Job DescriptionJob Title: Commercial Electrician Job Description This role focuses on installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems in commercial environments, including high voltage power distribution, lighting, structured cabling, and fire alarm systems. You respond to 24-hour emergency electrical service calls, troubleshoot urgent issues, and ensure all work complies with the NEC, local codes, and company safety policies. You work on both new construction and renovation projects, collaborating closely with project managers, contractors, and other trades to deliver safe, reliable, and high-quality electrical solutions. Responsibilities • Respond to 24-hour emergency electrical service calls and quickly troubleshoot urgent electrical issues., • Install, maintain, and repair high voltage electrical systems and components, including switches, transformers, terminations, cut-outs, and lightning arresters., • Perform power distribution and lighting wiring in commercial buildings, including panels, motor controls, receptacles, and lighting systems., • Install, terminate, and maintain structured cabling for communications systems, including voice, data, and video cabling., • Set up, program, and service fire alarm systems in compliance with local codes, safety standards, and industry best practices., • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, technical diagrams, and electrical drawings to plan and execute installations and repairs., • Install and run conduit, including bending and routing conduit for electrical wiring and low voltage systems., • Pull, route, and secure electrical and low voltage wiring in new construction and renovation projects, including food-grade facilities., • Perform preventive maintenance on electrical systems, equipment, and components to minimize downtime and ensure reliable operation., • Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems using hand tools, test equipment, and mechanical skills, including PLC troubleshooting where applicable., • Support commercial construction projects by coordinating with project managers, contractors, and other trades to meet project timelines and specifications., • Ensure all work complies with the National Electrical Code (NEC), local electrical codes, and internal safety policies and procedures., • Document work performed, materials used, and any issues identified during installation, maintenance, or repair activities., • Travel within the assigned service area, typically within approximately a one-hour radius of Quakertown, PA, to perform on-site work., • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area and properly care for tools, equipment, and company assets.Essential Skills, • 3–5 years of experience in commercial electrical work., • Proven experience with high voltage electrical systems and emergency response., • Strong knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC), local electrical codes, safety regulations, and best practices., • Hands-on experience with commercial power distribution, lighting systems, panels, and motor controls., • Proficiency in installing, running, and bending conduit for electrical and low voltage installations., • Experience with electrical wiring, low voltage systems, and structured cabling for communications (voice, data, video)., • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical diagrams., • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills for electrical systems, including diagnostic and repair capabilities., • Experience with commercial construction and renovation projects, including food-grade facilities., • Ability to perform preventive maintenance and general maintenance technician tasks on electrical systems., • Proficiency with hand tools and related mechanical skills for installation and repair work., • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, field-based environment., • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation., • Availability to support 24-hour emergency electrical service calls.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • Experience with building automation systems., • NICET certification for fire alarm systems., • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification., • Experience with PLC troubleshooting and control systems., • Familiarity with HVAC control wiring, access control, security cameras, and related low voltage systems., • Experience with phone and data cabling installations., • Strong communication skills for collaborating with project managers, contractors, and other trades., • Attention to detail and commitment to high-quality workmanship.Why Work Here? Work Environment The role is field-based, providing a wide range of emergency and non-emergency electrical services from 24 to 69,000 volts. You work on typical electrical installations such as lighting, receptacles, panels, and motor controls, as well as high voltage switches, transformers, terminations, setting poles, cut-outs, and lightning arresters. You also provide and install fire alarm systems, phone and data cabling, security cameras, access control, and HVAC control wiring. Assignments include both new construction and renovation, including food-grade facilities, with work primarily conducted during daytime hours and the possibility of weekend work depending on project needs. Projects typically fall within approximately a one-hour radius of Quakertown, PA, requiring travel between sites. The environment involves active construction and industrial settings where safety protocols, proper use of hand tools and equipment, and adherence to electrical codes are integral to daily operations. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Willow Grove, PA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $32.00/hr.
