About the Role: As a Powerplant Engineer, you will be responsible for developing processes and procedures that support, maintain, and continuously improve JSX’s maintenance programs. This includes creating repairs and alterations based on technical data and maintenance specifications for the powerplant systems installed on Embraer and ATR aircraft. You will evaluate and process manufacturer documentation, regulatory requirements, and updates to Federal Regulations that may impact our operation. In this role, you will collaborate closely with engineers, technical experts, and cross-functional departments to implement innovative solutions that enhance the reliability, performance, and safety of our fleet. A Day in the Life: Your day as a Powerplant Engineer will be fast-paced, technical, and deeply collaborative—centered around keeping our Embraer and ATR fleets reliable, safe, and performing at their best. You’ll play a key role in shaping the maintenance program, supporting technicians, and driving engineering solutions that directly impact aircraft readiness. Typical responsibilities include: • Engineering Support: Provide real-time engineering support to both line maintenance and heavy maintenance teams, ensuring all powerplant-related tasks are executed to the highest technical standard., • Engine Performance Oversight: Gather and submit On-Wing and Off-Wing engine data to manufacturers to sustain engine health, improve reliability trends, and support operational stability., • Technical Troubleshooting: Develop clear, actionable troubleshooting guidance and technical documentation for Maintenance Control, Line Maintenance, and Hangar Maintenance when addressing powerplant issues., • Regulatory Leadership: Ensure full compliance with FAA, EPA, OSHA, and other regulatory authorities by guiding maintenance activities, enforcing proper procedures, and aligning work with aircraft manuals and JSX standards., • Safety-First Mindset: Champion safety as the top priority in every process, decision, and activity—protecting both aircraft integrity and personnel wellbeing., • AOG Support: Provide after-hours engineering assistance during Aircraft-on-Ground events, helping teams quickly diagnose and resolve critical issues., • Fleet Inspection Management: Generate Fleet Campaign Instructions (FCIs) to support fleet-wide inspections and recurring maintenance actions., • Service Information Review: Evaluate manufacturer service documents—such as Service Bulletins and Service Letters—to determine relevance, impact, and required action for the JSX fleet., • Engineering Proposals: Prepare and present engineering proposals to the Maintenance Review Board (MRB) as needed to support operational decisions., • Modification & Repair Development: Create Engineering Orders (EOs) covering modifications, major repairs, and major alterations, ensuring each is properly classified and compliant., • Operational Participation: Attend the daily Tech Ops meeting and weekly MRB to stay aligned on fleet status, priorities, and upcoming actions., • OEM & Vendor Liaison: Serve as a technical liaison with aircraft and engine manufacturers, obtaining data, engineering support, and specialized guidance to aid fleet reliability., • Reliability Program Interface: Work closely with the Technical Reliability team to analyze trends, verify root causes, and support ongoing reliability improvement initiatives., • Root Cause & Prevention Strategies: Conduct root cause analyses and recommend effective countermeasures—ranging from MSG-3 task adjustments and interval changes to alterations, process improvements, and training solutions., • Be Part of a Team That Values You: Join a tight-knit, supportive team of professionals who are passionate about aviation and committed to safety and excellence., • No Two Days Are the Same: Work in a dynamic environment where your expertise ensures the reliability of every JSX flight., • Make a Tangible Impact: Your leadership, strategic thinking, and operational expertise directly contribute to maintenance readiness, and the overall efficiency of flight operations., • Opportunities to Grow: We’re invested in your long-term success, offering ongoing training, certifications, and a clear path to advance your career. We’re looking for someone who is: • Adaptable: You thrive in dynamic environments, adjusting quickly to changing priorities, weather, and operational needs., • Collaborative: You work well across departments, valuing communication and teamwork to achieve common goals., • Communicative: You share information clearly and confidently across teams, helping to build trust and streamline operations., • Critical Thinker: You can quickly assess situations and make sound, safety-first decisions., • Detail-Oriented: You understand that precision matters – especially when it comes to aircraft performance., • Engineering degree from accredited 4-year university and/or equivalent working experience., • Knowledge of powerplant systems and auxiliary power units., • Knowledge of aircraft powerplant systems and auxiliary power units., • 3-5 years engineering experience related to aircraft powerplant, repair, shop visit and troubleshooting., • Part 121 or Part 135 operations experience., • Part 25 requirements., • Hands on Technical and Maintenance experience., • Knowledge of maintenance and engineering systems., • Embraer systems training., • ATR systems training., • ATR 42/72, • Embraer 145/135, • Pratt & Whitney PW127M powerplant, • Rolls Royce AE 3007A1E powerplant, • Auxiliary Power Unit, • Ability to research and develop processes/procedures based on engineering data., • Understanding of maintenance manuals, wiring diagrams and aircraft drawings., • Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously., • Strong presentation skills to lead department initiatives and projects., • Excellent verbal and technical writing skills., • Flexible to work weekends and/or holidays., • Willing and able to travel as needed to support the operation., • Research Service Bulletins and fleet applicability., • Evaluate cost, reliability and operational impact of aircraft systems., • Ability to collaborate and work intricately within a department., • Understanding of regulatory compliance., • Ability to troubleshoot and develop repair criteria with inspection requirements on system components. Pay & Perks: Compensation is $100,000 - $110,000 annually.
