Job Description Job Title: MIG Welder / Fabricator Phoenix, AZ | $36-$40/HR | 10-20 hours overtime Weekly Pay Job Description This role focuses on assembling, fabricating, and welding a wide range of metal components using multiple welding processes. You will interpret fabrication drawings, perform high-quality welds on various materials, and contribute to both shop and field projects such as tanks, pipe, stairs, and ladders. The position requires consistent attention to detail, accurate measurement and documentation, and collaboration with the team to meet production targets and customer specifications. Responsibilities • Assemble and weld a variety of metal components in accordance with customer specifications and fabrication drawings., • Apply multiple welding processes, including MIG, flux-core, TIG, and stick, on materials such as cast, carbon steel, and stainless steel., • Perform high-quality, consistent welds daily, including root, fill, and cap welds on carbon steel pipe using .035 hard wire and .045 dual shield., • Interpret and work from shop fabrication drawings, blueprints, and detailed specifications to complete projects accurately., • Record all data necessary to achieve expected service and design results, including measurements, sizing information, and illustrations., • Fabricate and weld tanks, pipe, stairs, ladders, and other structural and custom components as required., • Use hand tools and power tools such as grinders, squares, levels, tape measures, and pins to support fabrication and fit-up work., • Read and use a tape measure proficiently to ensure precise measurements and proper fit-up of components., • Demonstrate creativity in fabrication and welding approaches to meet unique customer needs and specifications., • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized workspace and keep the work area free of debris and hazards., • Collaborate with team members to meet production targets and deadlines while maintaining quality standards., • Follow all safety practices, including proper use of PPE such as steel-toed boots and welding hood, in an open-air shop environment., • Work flexible hours, including first shift and potential overtime, to support shop and field project requirements. Essential Skills • Proven experience as a fabricator/welder or in a similar welding role., • At least 1 year of metal fabrication experience welding with flux-core and MIG processes., • At least 2 years of experience performing MIG welding., • Strong knowledge of metal fabrication processes, equipment, and shop practices., • Ability to weld a variety of materials, including cast, carbon steel, and stainless steel., • Proficiency with MIG welding, flux-core welding, TIG welding, and stick welding., • Experience with carbon steel pipe welding, including 2G, 3G, and 4G positions., • .035 hard wire root welding and flux-core fill and cap welding experience., • Experience using .045 dual shield wire for structural and pipe welding applications., • Ability to interpret and work from blueprints, shop fabrication drawings, and detailed specifications., • Basic math skills for accurate measurements, layout, and calculations., • Proficiency in reading a tape measure and using measurement tools for precise fabrication., • Familiarity with hand tools and power tools commonly used in fabrication, including grinders., • Ability to maintain consistent weld quality and appearance while meeting production requirements. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Experience with tank fabrication and welding., • Ability to work in both shop and field environments as project needs require., • Comfort working with open-air shop equipment and tools such as squares, levels, tape measures, and hold pins., • Strong attention to detail and commitment to documenting measurements and design information., • Collaborative mindset and ability to work effectively within a production team., • Good organizational skills to keep work areas clean and projects properly staged., • Adaptability to perform different types of welding and fabrication tasks throughout the week. Work Environment The role is based in an open-air shop environment that can be hot during the summer months, with work primarily on first shift from approximately 5:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Monday through Saturday, and opportunities for additional weekly hours. Work may occur both in the shop and in the field, depending on project needs. You will regularly use fabrication tools such as squares, levels, tape measures, grinders, and hold pins, along with standard welding equipment. Appropriate PPE is required, including steel-toed boots and a welding hood, and attire should be suitable for an industrial fabrication setting with a focus on safety and durability. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Phoenix, AZ. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $36.00 - $40.00/hr.
