Job DescriptionDirector, Manufacturing Operations Location: Los Angeles, CA Compensation: $165,000 – $195,000 (Depending on experience) About the Role SprintRay is advancing digital dentistry through innovation, precision, and scalable manufacturing. As the company continues to grow globally, we are seeking a Director, Manufacturing Operations to lead end-to-end production at our Los Angeles facility, with primary ownership of resin manufacturing operations. This is a senior leadership role responsible for defining manufacturing strategy, scaling production capabilities, and delivering world-class performance across quality, cost, delivery, safety, and service. The Director will lead production leaders and frontline teams while partnering closely with Supply Chain, Engineering, Quality, Regulatory, and Product Development to support growth, innovation, and operational excellence. The ideal candidate is a seasoned manufacturing leader with experience scaling operations in regulated, high-precision, or materials-based environments and thrives in fast-paced, growth-oriented organizations. Key Responsibilities Manufacturing Leadership & Strategy * Own and lead end-to-end manufacturing operations at the Los Angeles facility, with primary responsibility for resin manufacturing. * Define and execute manufacturing strategies that support business growth, new product introductions, and long-term capacity needs. * Establish short- and long-range production plans aligned with demand forecasts, financial targets, and strategic objectives. * Serve as the senior manufacturing leader onsite, setting standards for performance, accountability, and operational rigor. Operational Excellence & Performance * Deliver results across safety, quality, cost, delivery, and productivity targets. * Develop, implement, and own manufacturing KPIs and operating rhythms; use data-driven insights to drive accountability and continuous improvement. * Lead initiatives to improve throughput, yield, cycle time, and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE). * Drive Lean, Six Sigma, or similar continuous improvement methodologies to reduce waste, variability, and cost. Financial & Capacity Management * Own manufacturing cost performance, including labor efficiency, scrap, yield loss, and conversion costs. * Partner with Finance to manage operating budgets, labor plans, and headcount models. * Provide manufacturing inputs for capital planning, equipment investments, and facility expansion. * Balance service, cost, and inventory considerations in production decision-making. People Leadership & Organizational Development * Lead, coach, and develop manufacturing leaders and frontline teams; build a scalable, high-performing production organization. * Directly manage production managers and/or supervisors (including Paul), with accountability for team performance and development. * Establish clear roles, expectations, and succession plans across the manufacturing organization. * Foster a culture of safety, accountability, engagement, and continuous improvement. Cross-Functional Collaboration * Partner closely with Supply Chain and Demand Planning to align production plans with business needs. * Collaborate with Engineering and R&D on process development, manufacturability, and design-for-scale initiatives. * Work with Quality and Regulatory to ensure full compliance with applicable standards and readiness for audits. * Support new product introductions, process validations, and manufacturing scale-up activities. Quality, Safety & Compliance * Ensure full compliance with quality systems, safety standards, and regulatory requirements (e.g., ISO, FDA where applicable). * Own manufacturing readiness for audits, inspections, and certifications. * Drive proactive risk identification and mitigation across processes, equipment, and materials. Equipment, Facilities & Systems * Ensure manufacturing equipment, tooling, and facilities are capable, maintained, and aligned with current and future production needs. * Partner with Engineering and IT to improve manufacturing systems, ERP/MRP utilization, and production visibility. * Champion automation and process improvements that increase scalability and reduce manual dependency. Required Qualifications * Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, Operations Management, or related field (or equivalent experience). * 8–12+ years of progressive manufacturing operations experience, including leadership of managers and supervisors. * Proven experience leading production in regulated, high-precision, or materials-based manufacturing environments. * Demonstrated success scaling manufacturing operations in a growth-stage organization. * Strong financial and operational acumen with experience managing budgets, labor models, and cost performance. * Experience with ERP/MRP systems and production planning. * Exceptional leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills. * Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, evolving environment with high visibility and accountability. Preferred Qualifications * Experience in medical device, dental, chemicals, resins, or advanced materials manufacturing. * Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement certification. * Experience supporting global manufacturing or multi-site operations. * Background in automation or advanced manufacturing technologies.
