We are currently seeking a Maintenance Assistant to work across our three sites, Fallow & Fowl in Central London and Roe in Canary Wharf. The successful candidate will report to the Head of Maintenance and should have a background either as a skilled handyman or as maintenance assistant and bring energy, initiative, and a problem-solving mindset to every task. Key responsibilities: • Support day-to-day maintenance needs across all three restaurant sites., • Carry out basic repairs including plumbing, electrics, carpentry, and decoration., • Source and collect materials or parts needed for tasks., • Maintain workshop tools and stock, ensuring efficient organisation., • Support with larger projects such as equipment installation or overnight works., • Ensure all work is completed safely, professionally, and with minimal disruption. About you: • Hands-on experience with plumbing and electrical repairs., • Competent in using hand and power tools (e.g. drills, angle grinders, multi-tools)., • Skilled in painting and decorating, with a keen eye for detail., • Familiar with commercial kitchen equipment, including ovens, refrigeration, and gas systems., • Organized and proactive, with good time management and communication skills. Tasks will be: Decoration to a high standard Basic plumbing General maintenance Being able to complete jobs using own initiative is a must. Own transport is not a requirement but must be able to get around London using public transport with personal tools. Materials and large tools will be delivered to site. Able to work on your own or in a team depending on job. Work can be very varied. Must be trustworthy as you may work in private properties.

Location Various commercial sites (including out-of-hours work as required) Employment Type Full-time / Contract / Subcontract Job Purpose The General Builder will be responsible for carrying out a wide range of commercial building maintenance and repair works, including flooring installations, door repairs, minor plumbing tasks, and painting and decoration. The role requires flexibility, strong technical skills, and strict adherence to health and safety standards. Key Responsibilities – General Building Works • Carry out general building maintenance and repair works, • Prepare and protect work areas, • Complete works in line with specifications and standards, • Remove existing floor finishes and prepare subfloors, • Install vinyl, LVT, carpet tiles, laminate, timber, and tiles, • Apply primers and self-levelling compounds, • Refit skirting boards and trims, • Repair and adjust internal and external doors, • Replace hinges, closers, locks, and ironmongery, • Carry out minor carpentry works, • Replace taps, valves, traps, and WC components, • Carry out basic leak detection and pipework repairs, • Reconnect appliances such as sinks and dishwashers, • Prepare surfaces including filling, sanding, and priming, • Carry out internal painting and decorating to commercial standards, • Apply emulsion, gloss, satin, and specialist coatings as required, • Make good following repairs and maintenance works, • Follow site health & safety procedures and RAMS, • Work safely in occupied environments, • Proven commercial general building experience, • Strong flooring, decorating, and carpentry skills, • Basic to intermediate plumbing knowledge, • CSCS card (preferred), • Relevant trade qualifications (desirable), • Full UK driving licence (preferred), • Own tools (for subcontract roles)

You will work on a variety of commercial and public building projects throughout London, focusing on both planned and reactive maintenance, as well as refurbishments and general carpentry tasks. Responsibilities • Install and repair fire doors, frames, partitions, skirtings, and timber structures., • Conduct refurbishment works, including minor repairs, basic painting, and finishing tasks., • Attend client sites for planned and reactive maintenance., • Collaborate professionally with site managers, subcontractors, and clients., • Ensure high-quality workmanship and adherence to safety requirements. Requirements Experience & Skills • Proven carpentry experience., • Multi-trade skills are advantageous., • Ability to complete work to a high standard and within set timeframes. Qualifications • Valid CSCS Card (required)., • NVQ, City & Guilds, or similar qualifications are preferred. Personal Qualities • Reliable, organized, with strong attention to detail., • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
