This position is known officially within the organisation as a Maintenance and Facilities Operative SALARY: £13.65 £14.53 per Hour + Benefits LOCATION: Coventry, West Midlands JOB TYPE: Part-Time Contract - Fixed Term until 1 April 2026 WORKING HOURS: 21 Hours per Week, worked over 3 days (Mondays & Thursdays essential) JOB OVERVIEW We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Multi-Skilled Facilities Maintenance Operative / Tradesperson with practical building trade skills and a commitment to high standards, who is safety-conscious, organised, and able to work both independently and as part of a team. Working as a Multi-Skilled Facilities Maintenance Operative / Tradesperson you will help ensure buildings and facilities are safe, well-maintained, and welcoming. This is a varied, hands-on role where no two days are the same one day you might be completing planned maintenance tasks or repairing furniture, while the next you might be supervising external contractors or assisting in an emergency situation. As a Multi-Skilled Facilities Maintenance Operative / Tradesperson you will be required to carry out the necessary work to ensure that the buildings are maintained to a high standard, adhering to regulations and legislative requirements for Health and Safety. DUTIES Your duties as a Multi-Skilled Facilities Maintenance Operative / Tradesperson will include: Complete construction and maintenance work in a safe manner, within timescales and in budget Log any occurrence of vandalism, offer solutions and cost out repairs for the Facilities & Safety Manager Carry out daily building checks, report on findings and rectify defects as appropriate Support legal compliance within the buildings, to include carrying out flushing for legionella control, checks on fire equipment and egress routes, and other similar duties as required Ensure adequate stocks of maintenance consumables Highlight to the Facilities & Safety Manager maintenance issues that require Estates to resolve and log dockets where appropriate Help supervise external contractors when required Support setting up and preparing meeting rooms with the Welcome Hub Maintain and repair furniture and other equipment as appropriate Follow a programme of planned preventative maintenance and support vacation works lists, contributing to plans where appropriate and liaise with Estates and Contractors as required Assist the Housekeeping team to maintain areas such toilets and in emergency situations such as floods Ensure a high standard of customer care at all times Maintain computer reporting systems CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS City and Guilds level 1 to 4, in general building construction or relevant building trade experience in painting, plastering, carpentry or joinery Good standard of verbal communication with colleagues and customers, and organisational policies adhered to To have a working knowledge of Outlook, basic Word and Excel inputting and similar applications Knowledge of health & safety requirements and safe working practices Experience in stock management and basic facilities administration tasks Understanding of environmentally sustainable working practices BENEFITS Pro-rata of 20 days annual leave plus no less than pro-rata of 18 additional days during university closure periods (Christmas, Easter, bank holidays) Dedicated wellbeing programme Cycle to Work Scheme Employee Assistance Programme Generous pension scheme Access to a range of employee discounts and salary extras APPLY TODAY By submitting your job application to us you are hereby giving us your express consent to submit your details to our Client for this purpose.
