An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our new Bath & North East Somerset Drug and Alcohol service. This is a vibrant new partnership delivering substance use treatment and recovery services across Bath & North East Somerset. Our partnership draws upon experience delivering substance use services in Bath & North East Somerset and nationally, with specialist knowledge around diverse local communities, and the community insight which only comes from hyper-localism. As the Clinical Lead Doctor, you’ll have the chance to make a real difference to the lives of the people we support who are experiencing difficulties from drug and alcohol use. Turning Point offers the chance to work with many addiction specialists across the country, lending both learning and support to this role. The Clinical Lead will lead the service by: • Leading on all aspects of clinical governance and quality assurance, including clinical audit, clinical effectiveness and patient safety, • Taking a lead on service development, • Acting as advisor on development and implementation of policy, • Championing and leading research and innovation to develop new clinical guidance and service protocols, • Working with Turning Point colleagues nationally to optimise patient care, • Providing clinical supervision, training to clinical colleagues, • Provide expert advice to other clinicians on diagnosis, assessment and care planning, for example on complex drug interactions, comorbid drug-related physical and mental health issues, and integration of psychosocial and medical treatment, • Accept referrals of people with the most severe or complex needs, • Provide expert oversight of provision of psychosocial support, based on comprehensive knowledge of research evidence, • Lead introduction of innovative interventions to improve outcomes and quality of provision, • Undertake complex prescribing, for example injectable opioid substitution treatments, if necessary, • Provide liaison drug and alcohol services in acute medical and psychiatric settings and expert advice to courts We are looking for an experienced doctor who can take a lead on service delivery and development. As such, both clinical experience / expertise and leadership skills are paramount. The successful candidate will need to be accredited as ‘specialist’ in substance use treatment, and should either: 1. Be listed on the GMC’s Specialist Register as a psychiatrist with an endorsement in addiction, with the supervision and CPD requirements this entails; OR 2. Have training, experience and supervision equivalent to this, as certified by the GMC through an appropriate Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration (CESR); OR 3. Main Responsibilities As the Resuscitation Lead, you will: * Provide strategic and professional leadership for resuscitation practice across HCRG Care Group, ensuring safe, high-quality and compliant clinical care across all services. * Lead the development, implementation and ongoing review of the organisation’s resuscitation strategy, policies and procedures, ensuring alignment with national guidance, best practice and regulatory requirements. * Oversee the governance and assurance framework for resuscitation, including audit, incident review, learning dissemination and continuous quality improvement. * Ensure the effective delivery and quality assurance of resuscitation training programmes, including Basic Life Support, Immediate Life Support and other relevant training pathways, maintaining high levels of compliance and clinical confidence. * Act as the organisation’s subject matter expert for resuscitation, providing specialist advice and guidance to senior clinicians, operational leaders and multidisciplinary teams. * Work collaboratively with clinical education teams, service leads and governance colleagues to embed consistent standards and improve outcomes across diverse care settings. * Lead the review and implementation of resuscitation-related equipment, resources and processes, ensuring they are fit for purpose, safe and consistently available. * Support services in responding to resuscitation-related incidents, complaints or regulatory enquiries, ensuring robust investigation, learning and assurance. * Monitor performance using data, insight and reporting to identify risks, gaps and improvement opportunities, escalating concerns where appropriate. * Represent HCRG Care Group at internal and external forums related to resuscitation, patient safety and clinical quality, acting as a credible ambassador for the organisation. Person Requirements To succeed in this role, you will bring: * A registered healthcare professional background, with significant experience in resuscitation practice, education or clinical leadership within a complex healthcare environment. * Demonstrable expertise in resuscitation standards, national guidance and best practice, with the credibility to operate confidently as a subject matter expert across diverse services. * Proven experience of leading, delivering or assuring resuscitation training programmes, including governance, audit, compliance and continuous improvement. * Strong experience working within clinical governance and patient safety frameworks, with the ability to review incidents, identify learning and drive sustainable improvement. * The ability to influence, advise and challenge effectively at all levels, including senior clinicians, operational leaders and multidisciplinary teams. * Experience of working across multiple services or care settings, navigating competing priorities and supporting consistent standards in complex organisational structures. * Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the confidence to engage, educate and support colleagues across a wide range of professional backgrounds. * High levels of autonomy, resilience and professional judgement, with the ability to make sound decisions in a fast-paced and evolving clinical environment. * A values-driven approach to leadership, aligned with our organisational values of We Care, We Think and We Do, and a strong commitment to improving patient safety and quality of care.
