We’re looking for compassionate, dedicated, and enthusiastic SEND Teaching Assistants to work within a variety of specialist SEN schools across Newcastle, Gateshead, North Tyneside, South Tyneside, and Northumberland. This rewarding role gives you the chance to support incredible young people every day — helping them grow in confidence, develop new skills, and achieve their full potential. “SEND Teaching Assistants don’t just support learning — they empower every child to believe in their ability to succeed.” Your Role: • Provide one-to-one and small-group support for pupils with SEND, including Autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH, and complex learning needs, • Help pupils access learning and develop confidence, communication, and independence, • Support teachers in adapting and delivering engaging, inclusive lessons, • Promote positive behaviour, well-being, and participation in school life, • Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, and support teams to deliver individual learning plans, • Contribute to creating a safe, nurturing, and inspiring learning environment What We’re Looking For: • GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths (essential), • A Level 2 or higher Teaching Assistant qualification (desirable), • Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEND (essential), • Empathy, patience, and a proactive attitude, • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, • A genuine commitment to inclusion, safeguarding, and helping every child thrive Additional training in Autism, SEMH, Makaton, or PECS would be advantageous.
