The Lethality team in Stevenage primarily undertakes modelling of the missile terminal engagement, the target detection, warhead detonation and lethal performance prediction. This is an outstanding opportunity to join a niche group of engineers with mixed expertise, involved in assessing the lethal performance of various missile systems. The skills we utilise are not typical in academia and so joining the team presents an opportunity for you to develop knowledge in numerous aspects of missile lethality that you would not develop anywhere else! With support and mentorship from the team's Engineers, you'll be involved in applying a custom set of modelling tools to evaluate and investigate the lethal performance of developing and future missile systems against a range of targets. Mechanical and Climatic Engineer - Summer Placement 2026 Mechanical and Climatic Engineers are at the forefront of ensuring MBDA products survive and operate as required throughout customer in-service use. The opportunity The mission of Environmental Engineering and Facilities (EE&F) is: To define the environments (e.g. shock, vibration, temperature, humidity) that MBDA's products will see in service To support other Functions and Projects in developing robust designs and efficient proving strategies To generate the evidence to demonstrate that MBDA's products will meet our customer's environmental requirements Experience a wide variety of challenging technical projects that also includes hands on work where you get a chance to influence real world engineering decisions, strategies, and designs from an environmental test perspective. The scheme is split into four six month placements, with three placements within EE&F and one externally to EE&F of your choice within MBDA. Within EE&F, you will experience all three domains with a position in the Test Team, the Trials and Analysis Team (T&A), and the Projects Team. You'll work on a range of projects at different stages of the product development cycle, as well as in service support. Each EE&F domain will enable you to experience and gain unique technical and soft skills and collaborate with partners from across MBDA and the customer community. Examples include hands-on mechanical and climatic testing experience in Test, experiencing environmental data gathering trials on various on site and external opportunities in T&A, and managing technical delivery of challenging small to medium sized work packages in the Projects team. With mentorship, you will be given responsibility for delivering tasks of real substance from the beginning of the programme, with the aim that through the programme, you'll become an independent, problem solving and trusted engineer in any domain you choose to specialise in. You'll operate in a challenging, encouraging and technically exciting working environment, surrounded by a great support network within the department, experienced in managing early careers and getting the best out of each graduate and individuals. Regular feedback and support through regular reviews will help you with your personal development, with a focus on formal training as part of this. In addition, you have the opportunity to work towards a Chartership through MBDA's accredited schemes with the Institute of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) or Royal Aeronautical Society (RAeS). Safety and Reliability Engineer - Summer Placement Programme 2026 The Safety and Reliability Department are involved in the development of all the Products MBDA produces and are responsible for providing our customers with the evidence and assurance that our Products meet the required levels of Safety and Reliability. Salary : £23,495 pro-rated Dynamic (Hybrid) Working : 3-4 days per week on-site due to workload classification Security Clearance : British Citizen or a Dual UK national with British citizenship. The opportunity The Safety and Reliability Department are in the fortunate position to support all areas of the business to ensure all the products MBDA produces are safe to use and provide a reliable performance to the Armed Forces who protect our nations. Safety and Reliability Engineers are responsible for assessing and assuring the safety and reliability aspects of the inherently lethal attributes required of complex weapon systems (specialisation in either safety or reliability could be supported, but the preference is to fully develop skills in both areas). Successful candidates will: Gain experience in Safety and Reliability Engineering within the Defence sector. Experience and support product development across the different phases; from product conception through testing and trials to manufacture and customer delivery. Experience of Safety and Reliability Engineering techniques and best practice. For example; Hazard Analysis, Failure Mode Effects & Criticality Analysis (FMECA), Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), Safety or Reliability Case Reports. Have opportunities to build and secure a network with other stakeholders within and outside of MBDA (for example; Supporting design teams to deliver safe and reliable products on time and on cost, implementing business processes with guidance from Guided Weapon Safety Officers or Technical Experts, facilitating or attending Customer Safety Panel meetings or Community of Practice events).
