English Teacher - SEMH \n Job Type: Full-time, Permanent \n Location: Wythenshawe \n Working Hours: 8:15am–4:00pm \n Start Date: ASAP \n \n Job description \n A nurturing and well-established SEMH school in Wythenshawe is looking for a Qualified English Teacher to join their close-knit team. \n \n This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced teacher who is confident working with SEMH pupils and challenging behaviours. The school supports students with a range of additional needs and provides a structured, supportive environment focused on both academic progress and personal development. \n \n The school has very small class sizes of around 5 students, with 2 Teaching Assistants and a HLTA also supporting within the classroom, providing a high level of individual support. \n \n About the role \n\n • Deliver engaging and accessible English lessons to KS3 and KS4 pupils with SEMH and additional needs\n, • Adapt lessons to meet individual learning needs and abilities\n, • Confidently manage and respond to challenging behaviours using positive behaviour strategies\n, • Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils and create a calm, consistent classroom environment\n, • Integrate EHCP targets into teaching and support students' academic and personal development\n, • Develop students' literacy skills, including reading, writing, communication and comprehension\n, • Assess and track progress across academic, social-emotional and independence skills\n, • Work closely with TAs, HLTAs and the wider school team to support individual pupils\n, • Support students to develop confidence, resilience and positive attitudes towards learning\n\n \n Who we're looking for \n\n • QTS or QTLS – ECTs will be considered, although an experienced teacher is preferred\n, • Previous experience working with SEMH pupils is highly desirable\n, • Experience supporting pupils with challenging behaviour and confidence in managing behaviours that may present within an SEMH setting\n, • Experience working within a SEND, SEMH, alternative provision or similar environment\n, • Strong classroom and behaviour management skills\n, • Ability to adapt teaching to meet a range of individual needs\n, • Resilient, patient and empathetic approach\n, • Excellent communication and teamwork skills\n, • Recognised degree in any subject\n\n \n If you're an experienced English Teacher looking for a rewarding role where you can make a genuine difference to pupils with SEMH needs, this could be an excellent opportunity to join a supportive and well-resourced school. \n \n Please apply or email D.jones@linqrecruitment.co.uk or call for more details.
