Systems Engineer - Modelling & Simulation \n x3 days p/w in Reading 6 Month intiial contract SC required to start - UKEO programme \n Rate open, outside IR35 \n \n Our client, a small defence engineering consultancy in the Defence & Security sector, is currently seeking a skilled professional in Modelling & Simulation for a contract role in Reading. \n Key Responsibilities: \n\n • Lead the delivery of Modelling & Simulation (M&S) projects from concept through to deployment\n, • Design and develop simulation architectures, synthetic environments, and integrated simulation capabilities\n, • Enable interoperability between simulation systems, models, and wider technical ecosystems\n, • Support the integration of M&S solutions with Digital Engineering, Digital Twin, Digital Thread, and MBSE environments\n, • Contribute to Test & Evaluation, experimentation, and simulation-based testing activities\n, • Provide technical leadership, guidance, and assurance across client engagements\n, • Produce technical documentation, solution designs, and delivery reports\n, • Manage technical risks and ensure solutions are delivered in line with best practice and governance requirements\n, • Support capability development, innovation initiatives, and business growth activities\n\n Job Requirements:Essential Experience: \n\n • Significant experience in Modelling & Simulation, Synthetic Environments, or Simulation-Based Capability delivery\n, • Experience delivering M&S solutions within Defence or other complex engineering environments\n, • Strong understanding of simulation architectures, interoperability, and systems integration\n, • Experience developing, integrating, and managing simulation models and environments\n, • Knowledge of Verification, Validation & Accreditation (VV&A) principles\n, • Understanding of Systems Engineering, Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), Digital Engineering, and Digital Twin concepts\n, • Strong stakeholder engagement and technical communication skills\n, • Ability to lead technical delivery whilst providing hands-on expertise when required\n\n Desirable Experience: \n\n • Experience working with UK Defence, Government, or highly regulated organisations\n, • Experience operating within secure environments\n, • Professional qualifications or formal training in Modelling & Simulation, Systems Engineering, Operational Analysis, or a related discipline\n\n Benefits: \n\n • Opportunity to work on complex, meaningful programmes across Defence and industry\n, • Collaborate with experts in Data, AI, Digital Engineering, and Systems Architecture\n, • Play a key role in shaping and growing the client's Modelling & Simulation capability\n, • Flexible and hybrid working environment\n, • Clear opportunities for personal and professional development\n\n If you are an experienced professional in Modelling & Simulation looking for an exciting contract role, we would love to hear from you.
