Job Title: Legal Counsel (Charging of Property) Location: London Salary: Up to £94,000 per annum, depending on experience Contract Type: 2 year contract Looking for a Legal Counsel (Charging of Property) to join our collaborative and values-driven team. As a Legal Counsel, you will lead on all legal work relating to the charging of property assets. You will play a vital role in ensuring homes are legally ready to be used as security for loans or bond issues, directly supporting our ability to raise funding, invest in new homes, and achieve long-term strategic goals. Alongside this, youll support a wide range of legal matters, from acquisitions to compliance, ensuring legal services remain forward-looking and efficient. Key Duties Lead all legal work related to property charging, including due diligence, title rectification, and arranging for panel law firms to prepare Certificates of Title. Provide legal advice on the chargeability of new acquisitions and variations to agreements affecting future developments. Collaborate with Treasury, Development, Governance, and Asset Teams to resolve issues and improve processes. Ensure compliance with regulatory standards, ensuring accurate legal records for property portfolio. Support, coach, and supervise paralegal and legal support staff, contributing to the teams professional development. As a Legal Counsel (Charging of Property) were seeking someone who can bring: Proven experience in property charging or housing-related legal casework. Strong collaboration and communication skills. A proactive mindset that can plan and organise all the relevant parties involved. Demonstrate a passion for supporting the delivery of affordable housing. Essential Skills and Experience Qualified as a Solicitor (England and Wales), Barrister, or Fellow of ILEX (Legal Executive), holding a valid practising certificate or equivalent. Appropriate post-qualification experience managing a relevant caseload, including legal matters related to housing management, with strong drafting skills and legal acumen.
