A childcare assistant helps children feel safe and cared for, and supports their development and learning. They also ensure that children's needs are met, and that health and safety regulations are followed. Help children learn language and numeracy skills, and support their physical and mental wellbeing
Plan and implement activities that are age-appropriate, such as arts and crafts, music, and cooking. Assist with daily routines, such as feeding, changing, and toilet breaks. Observe children's behaviour and development, and report any concerns to parents or senior staff. Ensure that all policies and procedures are followed, and that children's records are kept up to date
Skills
Good communication skills, both written and verbal
Ability to work well in a team
Ability to understand and carry out instructions
Knowledge of child development and behavior patterns
Knowledge of health and safety regulations
