Legal Counsel - In House 📍 Cheltenham (2 days per week in office – Monday & Wednesday) 💷 Circa £50,000 + excellent benefits 🏡 Hybrid working | 🤝 Supportive culture | 🚀 Broad in-house exposure The Opportunity ✨ An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Legal Counsel to join a collaborative and highly regarded in-house legal team within a complex and fast-paced organisation. Working closely with the General Counsel, Senior Legal Counsel, and wider Legal & Governance team, you’ll provide commercially astute and pragmatic legal support across a broad range of business matters for both the organisation and its trading subsidiary. This role offers genuinely varied in-house exposure across commercial contracts, procurement, data protection, regulatory matters, intellectual property, stakeholder advisory work, and business projects. You’ll act as a trusted advisor to stakeholders across the organisation, helping balance legal risk with commercial objectives while supporting key operational and strategic initiatives. Key Responsibilities 📌 Provide clear, pragmatic legal advice across a broad range of matters including: • Commercial contracts and procurement, • Regulatory and compliance matters, • Data protection and information governance, • Intellectual property matters, • Corporate and operational legal support You will also: • Draft, review, negotiate, and advise on a wide range of commercial agreements, supplier contracts, terms & conditions, and NDAs, • Support business projects and operational initiatives, • Assist with GDPR, data governance, and data sharing matters, • Support the review of data flows and commercial arrangements involving data, • Advise stakeholders on legal and commercial risk using a practical, risk-based approach, • Support complaints, promotional activity, and wider advisory matters, • Develop and maintain legal precedents and templates, • Support legal training and awareness activities across the organisation, • Work collaboratively with procurement, commercial, operations, and wider business functions, • Build strong working relationships as a trusted and approachable business partner About You 👀 We’re looking for a qualified Solicitor or Legal Executive who enjoys operating within a broad, collaborative in-house environment. You will likely bring: • Experience within commercial contracts and general commercial legal matters, • Strong drafting and negotiation skills, • A pragmatic and solutions-focused mindset, • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, • The ability to balance legal risk with commercial objectives, • Confidence managing a varied workload with a degree of autonomy, • A collaborative and adaptable approach Previous in-house experience would be beneficial, although candidates moving from private practice will absolutely be considered. Experience across areas such as procurement, data protection, compliance, or intellectual property would also be advantageous.
