The Head of Field Service for BESS (Battery Energy Storage System) Systems is a senior position responsible for overseeing all pre and post-installation activities from installation through to operational and maintenance (O&M) activities across a portfolio of energy storage assets. You will be responsible for recruiting, training, mentoring, and managing a national / regional team of Field Service Engineers, and Technicians delivering a portfolio of service and maintenance contracts from installation, maintenance, through to reactive breakdowns troubleshooting advanced Battery Energy Storage Systems across client sites in the UK. This role involves hands-on work with electrical components, control systems, and hybrid energy solutions, ensuring optimal performance and customer satisfaction. Key Responsibilities: • Develop and implement the overall Field Service strategy, including standards for preventative maintenance (PM), corrective maintenance (CM), troubleshooting, and commissioning support., • Establish and continuously improve all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), maintenance procedures, and workflow processes for field service activities., • Take ultimate responsibility for the long-term operational performance, reliability, and maximum energy output/availability of all BESS assets under service contracts., • Oversee the management of spare parts and logistics across all service locations to ensure rapid response to outages., • Act as the primary technical interface and escalation point for key customers regarding service delivery, operational performance, and contract fulfilment(especially LTSAs)., • Ensure all contractual obligations under LTSAs are met, including performance guarantees (availability, capacity), reporting requirements, and outage scheduling., • Manage and oversee third-party contractors and Original Equipment, • Manufacturers (OEMs) providing specialized maintenance or repair services, ensuring their work meets company standards., • Prepare and present regular, comprehensive service and performance reports for internal executive management and external clients. In summary, the Head of Field Service for BESS transforms engineering design into reliable, profitable, and safe long-term operations Relationships: The Head of Field Service will report to the Operations Director.
