You will be responsible for identifying and engaging prospective customers, creating new sales opportunities and booking qualified meetings for the wider commercial team. You'll work closely with senior commercial leadership in a small, ambitious team, giving you the opportunity to make a visible contribution rather than simply becoming another number in a large sales organisation. The role This is a phone-led outbound business development position suited to someone who enjoys opening doors, speaking to decision-makers and turning prospects into genuine commercial opportunities. You won't be handed an entirely cold list and left to figure it out yourself. The business has already invested in building a researched database of target organisations, prioritised accounts and identified decision-makers. Your job will be to turn that research into conversations. You will use a combination of telephone, email and LinkedIn to introduce the business, understand potential customer requirements, qualify opportunities and secure meetings for the sales team. Essential Confidence speaking to senior decision-makers on the telephone Comfortable making outbound and cold calls Strong communication skills, both verbal and written Ability to work independently and manage your own workload Good organisation and attention to detail A disciplined approach to follow-up and CRM management Resilience and persistence - you understand that not every conversation becomes an opportunity A genuine interest in technology and new business Right to work in the UK Desirable Previous experience in business development, lead generation, inside sales or a similar role Experience in SaaS, software, AI, technology or another consultative sales environment Experience selling into sectors such as retail, education, hospitality, automotive or the charity sector Experience engaging with senior decision-makers or C-suite contacts What's on offer? £25,000-£35,000 basic salary , depending on experience OTE up to £50,000 Uncapped commission on the business you generate Annual performance bonus linked to achievement of agreed targets Commission payable on orders you originate, including opportunities subsequently progressed and closed by other members of the sales team Additional company benefits Clear opportunity for progression as the commercial team grows Career progression This isn't intended to be a role where you simply spend your career booking meetings. For the right person, there is a clear opportunity to progress into a broader full-cycle sales role , taking responsibility for your own appointments, attending client meetings, developing relationships and ultimately closing business yourself. As your responsibility grows, so does your earning potential. If you're already operating at that level, we'd also be interested in speaking with you. Working hours Monday to Friday, 9:00am-5:00pm This is a predominantly office-based position in Shrewsbury , with occasional overnight travel for industry events, meetings and customer visits.
