The position is clinically focused, with the post holder undertaking scanning sessions and related non‑clinical duties. Working within a tertiary referral centre, a portion of the workload is specialised and requires advanced knowledge. The service covers all aspects of Obstetrics and gynaecology, general ultrasound, small parts, musculoskeletal and neuro. The post‑holder will be regarded as a senior specialist sonographer with skills across general and Obs/Gynae ultrasound and the ability to scan and report autonomously in at least one specialised field. The role requires developing an innovative team and creating future vision and strategies for sonography services at NUH and across the East Midlands, whilst leading the training and educational strategy for students, sonographers and resident doctors. • Provide an efficient, high‑quality ultrasound service with comprehensive unsupervised scans and written reports., • Participate in the vetting and prioritisation of US examinations according to departmental and national guidelines., • Maintain a high standard of patient care and provide an excellent patient experience., • Independently undertake ultrasound examinations using a high level of specialist knowledge aligned with local, regional, and national guidance., • Lead professional leadership and training of the sonography team., • Measure and evaluate own and others’ current practices through evidence‑based projects, audits, outcome measures and benchmarking., • Oversee the supervision, education and performance of students and trainees to ensure the standard of practice and teaching meets the appropriate qualifications., • Conduct appraisals of immediate subordinates, set objectives and identify training needs to achieve departmental and individual goals., • Lead the non‑medical ultrasound clinical audit, research and innovation programme for the department.
