Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant Daily Rate: £103.95 - £110 per day Location: Heywood area Contract Type: Full-time / Part-time / Long-term / Temporary (depending on availability) Role Overview We are currently seeking a committed, caring, and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to work within schools across the Heywood area. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about supporting children with Special Educational Needs and helping them achieve their full potential in a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment. As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting pupils both academically and emotionally, working closely with class teachers, SENCOs, and other support staff. You may be required to provide one-to-one support or work with small groups, depending on the needs of the pupils. Key Responsibilities Provide tailored support to pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs, including ASD, ADHD, SEMH, and learning difficulties Offer one-to-one and small group support within the classroom and during interventions Support pupils with their academic work, emotional regulation, and social development Assist the class teacher with lesson preparation, delivery, and classroom management Implement and follow Individual Education Plans (IEPs), behaviour support plans, and SEN strategies Monitor and record pupil progress and provide feedback to teaching staff Promote a positive, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment at all times Essential Requirements Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN (school-based experience preferred) A good understanding of different SEN needs and appropriate support strategies A calm, patient, and empathetic approach to supporting pupils Strong communication and teamwork skills Ability to adapt to different classroom settings and pupil needs An enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply for one Desirable Criteria Relevant qualifications or training in education, childcare, or SEN Experience working in primary or secondary school settings Behaviour management or safeguarding training CV Requirements Your CV must clearly list all previous experience, particularly any roles involving SEN support Details of the age groups and SEN needs you have worked with Information on schools, provisions, or childcare settings previously worked in Any relevant qualifications, training, or professional development This is a rewarding opportunity for someone looking to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children with additional needs while working in supportive school environments across the Heywood area
