4myschools are delighted to be recruiting on behalf of a welcoming and inclusive secondary school near Eye (Suffolk) for a Learning Support Assistant / Teaching Assistant to join their dedicated support team from September 2026. The school can offer flexibility, considering either a full-time arrangement of five days per week or approximately 20 hours spread across the week, with working days currently flexible. Standard full-time hours would be 8:30am3:30pm, Monday to Friday, term time only. This is initially a temporary booking with an excellent opportunity to secure a permanent position for the right candidate. The role: This is a fantastic opportunity for candidates with previous classroom support experience, SEND knowledge or Emotional Literacy Support Assistant (ELSA) training. You will play an important role in supporting pupils both within the classroom and through targeted interventions, helping to remove barriers to learning and promote positive outcomes for young people. In this role, you will work closely with teaching staff and the SEND team to support students with a range of additional learning, emotional and social needs. Your responsibilities will include providing 1:1 and small group support, assisting with emotional regulation strategies, encouraging confidence and independence, supporting classroom learning across the curriculum, monitoring progress, promoting positive behaviour and helping create a safe, engaging and inclusive learning environment. Candidates with experience supporting students with SEND, SEMH needs, ASD, ADHD or those requiring additional emotional support will be particularly well suited to this position. Ideal Candidate We are seeking a caring, patient and enthusiastic individual who is passionate about supporting young people to succeed. Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, ELSA, Youth Worker, Behaviour Mentor or within a similar educational or care setting would be highly advantageous. ELSA training and experience are desirable; however, applicants with strong SEND knowledge and a genuine commitment to pupil wellbeing are encouraged to apply. Candidates must hold a minimum Grade 4 (C) or above in GCSE English and Maths (or equivalent) and possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Due to the location of the school, access to reliable transport is highly desirable. The school can offer flexibility, considering either a full-time arrangement of five days per week or approximately 20 hours spread across the week, with working days currently flexible.
