Role Overview We are seeking an experienced, commercially focused General Manager to take full responsibility for the day-to-day management and performance of the business. This is a senior leadership role requiring operational, commercial, and strategic capability. The successful candidate will oversee all operational functions, drive business growth, manage staff performance, and ensure operational efficiency, while working closely with the Managing Director, who is based remotely, to execute company strategy. This role requires a hands-on leader capable of managing both operational detail and broader business objectives. Key Responsibilities Operational Leadership • Oversee the day-to-day running of all business operations, • Ensure efficient delivery of projects, production, and services, • Implement and maintain operational processes, policies, and procedures, • Monitor and improve operational performance, productivity, and quality standards, • Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and regulatory requirementsCommercial and Financial Management, • Manage budgets, cost control, and overall financial performance, • Drive revenue growth and profitability, • Monitor financial KPIs and implement corrective actions where necessary, • Identify and develop new business opportunities, • Support pricing strategies, quotations, and commercial negotiationsTeam Leadership and Management, • Lead, manage, and motivate staff across all departments, • Recruit, train, and develop team members, • Establish clear performance objectives and accountability, • Foster a positive, high-performance cultureStrategic Implementation, • Work closely with the Managing Director to execute business strategy, • Provide regular operational and financial reports, • Identify opportunities for improvement, expansion, and efficiency, • Support long-term planning and growth initiativesCustomer and Stakeholder Management, • Maintain strong relationships with key customers, suppliers, and partners, • Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction and service delivery, • Represent the company in meetings and industry engagements Person Specification Essential Experience • Proven experience in a senior operational leadership role (General Manager, Operations Manager, or similar), • Experience managing day-to-day business operations with full accountability, • Strong commercial and financial acumen, • Experience managing teams and driving performance, • Excellent organisational and leadership skillsDesirable Experience, • Experience within electrical engineering, control systems, manufacturing, or technical industries, • Experience in SME business leadership, • Experience working with remote senior leadershipSkills and Attributes, • Strong leadership and decision-making ability, • Commercially driven with a results-focused mindset, • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, • Highly organised and capable of managing multiple priorities, • Self-motivated and able to operate autonomouslyCompensation and Benefits, • Competitive salary, • Performance-related bonus structure, • Leadership role with significant autonomy and influence, • Opportunity to play a key role in the growth of the business Working Relationship The General Manager will work closely with the Managing Director, who will provide strategic oversight remotely.
