Job Description Job Title: Senior Product & Process Technologist Reporting to: Site R&D Manager Location: Melton Mowbray, fill-time on-site Salary: £38,000 - 45,000 (depending on the experience), annual bonus, benefits Job Purpose: The purpose of this job is to scope, plan and lead the delivery of a portfolio of product and/or process development & implementation projects in line with PNE growth and cost optimization strategies, and Quality & Food Safety standards. What will be your key responsibilities? • Initiate and lead product/process development projects designed to deliver continuous improvement and/or optimize business cost while adhering to agreed standards of Quality and Food safety, • Defining minimum standards and critical success factors (CSFs) as part of the Handover 1 and 2 processes for all product/process implementation projects in collaboration with PNE Hub R&D and local cross-functional teams, • Own and manage site product and/or process recipes and specifications in line with PNE design principles and standards, • Provide product/raw material expertise to resolve issues and maintain factory efficiency, • Lead factory-scale trials for product or raw material changes, • Perform technical risk assessments on changes to raw materials, recipes, products and processes and ensure that all risks are effectively managed, • Support Q&FS, HACCP and internal/external audits, • Own product/process data collection and management, including Analytical Testing Program (ATP) data, ensuring that that our products conform to standards, and that exceptions are effectively escalated and managed, • Lead level 2 trouble-shooting activities in partnership with other functions to ensure the successful resolution of product/process issues, • Act as a Product Related Incident Management Process (PRIMP) Owner as required, • Represent R&D in European and local Activity Task Groups (ATGs), providing risk assessment and technical inputs as required, • Provide methodological support for commissioning activities What are we looking for? • Essential: Degree level qualification in a relevant technical or scientific discipline (Food Science/Technology, Biological, Chemical, Engineering sciences), • Essential: Experience in a similar role within an FMCG environment (minimum 2 years), • Experience in leading and managing projects in an FMCG environment, • Experience in experimental design and execution, • A continuous improvement mindset - experience in applying scientific methodology and problem-solving, • Strong collaboration skills — you know how to engage, influence, and motivate teams at all levels.
