Job Description Job Title: Technical Electrical Estimator Brite Electric Norfolk, VA Preconstruction & Estimating Department Reports to: Director of Contracts Employment Type: Full-Time Job Summary As a Technical Electrical Estimator at Brite Electric, you will aid the preconstruction process by preparing accurate, detailed, and competitive estimates for electrical projects across federal, commercial, and industrial markets. You will leverage your deep knowledge of electrical systems, construction means and methods, and market pricing to deliver proposals that balance profitability and client satisfaction. Your role is critical to helping Brite Electric secure work that aligns with our strategic goals and builds on our reputation for delivering quality, safety, and innovation. Key ResponsibilitiesEstimating & Preconstruction • Prepare detailed and accurate estimates for electrical projects, including material, labor, equipment, and subcontractor costs., • Support conceptual, schematic, design development, and final estimate efforts., • Analyze drawings, specifications, RFPs, and addenda to determine scope of work., • Develop quantity take-offs using digital tools and industry-standard software., • Review subcontractor and supplier proposals to ensure scope completeness and accuracy., • Work closely with the Director of Contracts , Project Managers and Lead Production Engineer to ensure accurate scoping, constructability, and alignment of estimates., • Collaborate with Procurement to secure accurate supplier and subcontractor pricing., • Analyze project risks and prepare contingency plans within estimates., • Ensure estimates align with company profit goals and market competitiveness., • Track historical cost data and maintain an updated database of labor, equipment, and material pricing., • Minimum 3-5 years of experience as an Electrical Estimator in commercial, federal, or industrial construction., • Strong understanding of electrical systems, codes, and construction sequencing., • Proficiency with estimating software (such as Accubid, Trimble, McCormick, or similar) and Microsoft Excel., • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications., • Excellent communication and negotiation skills., • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (or equivalent experience)., • Experience in federal/Davis-Bacon projects and large-scale commercial/industrial projects., • Familiarity with Spectrum ERP or other construction management software., • Competitive salary, • Comprehensive benefits package: health, dental, vision, life, disability, and 401(k) with employer match., • Fully paid continuing education and professional development opportunities., • A collaborative team culture that values safety, excellence, and growth., • The opportunity to shape the future of a leading electrical contractor in the Mid-Atlantic.
