American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN ICU - Intensive Care Unit for a travel nursing job in Omaha, Nebraska. Job Description & Requirements • Specialty: ICU - Intensive Care Unit, • Discipline: RN, • Start Date: 10/27/2025, • Duration: 16 weeks, • 36 hours per week, • Shift: 12 hours, nights, • Position is based in a Medical Surgical ICU within an acute care setting, • Level 1 trauma center with a 34-bed ICU unit, • Adult and pediatric patients over 15 years old with complex medical, neurological, surgical, cardiac, and critical illness cases, • Nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:1-2 in ICU and 1:4 in progressive care, • RNs titrate drips including vasopressors, paralytics, narcotics, sedation, and antiarrhythmics, • RNs are responsible for interpreting heart monitor strips using Draeger centralized telemetry monitors, • RT equipment ranges from nasal cannula to ventilators, with nurses troubleshooting as needed, • Expected to float to all inpatient units except Maternity/NICU, • 12-hour night shifts with every other weekend and holiday coverage required, • Uses Epic EMR; prior experience preferred, • Scrub color is navy blue, • Responsibilities include managing care for critically ill adults and older pediatric patients, titrating multiple infusions, and collaborating with medical teams, • Charge nurse is present on each shift and attends rapid response and code events, • Support staff includes nurse aides at a 1:18 ratio, • Orientation includes two unit-specific shifts and a pass/fail open-book exam requiring 90% to pass, • No artificial nails are permitted for infection control, • Must submit all requests for time off up front (7 or fewer days per 13-week contract); no additional time off will be approved after submission, • Fast-paced, team-oriented environment with collaboration among nurses, attendings, fellows, and residents\n \n Requirements\n, • Active NE or compact RN license required at time of consideration; pending licenses are not accepted, • Minimum 2 years of ICU nursing experience required, • Certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS required and must be active at time of submission, • Ability to read and interpret EKG strips, • Driver's license required for verification of permanent residence, • Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility, • May not have been employed (full time, part time, or PRN) by CommonSpirit facilities, including CHI or Dignity, in the past year, • Two references required: one supervisor within the last 12 months, and one peer or supervisor within the last 3 years\n Benefits\n, • High Pay and Bonuses, • Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options, • 401(k) Plan, • Weekly Payroll Deposit, • Free Online CEUs, • Generous Housing Allowance, • Travel and Licensure Reimbursements, • Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy With thousands of travel nursing and allied jobs nationwide, our attentive and approachable recruiters find positions that align perfectly with your career aspirations and personal requirements.
