About This Role The accountant, under the supervision of the Director of Finance, will ensure timely and accurate recording of daily Cash Receipts, company credit card receipt collection and review, general ledger reconciliations, and other accounting duties as assigned. The role ensures the accurate and timely disbursement of expense reimbursements, benefits allocations, vendor filing, and regulatory compliance, while supporting the accounting and audit functions. There will be projects assigned as need for audits, cleanup, and streamlining to support the regular maintenance of the accounting function. Essential Functions: • Primary Duties:, • Daily Cash Receipt recording., • Review credit card receipts for all company credit card reconciliations., • Weekly Accounts Payable processing of staff and member expense reports; ensure proper authorization and entry for additional Accounts Payable requests., • Bank statement formatting and filing for Board reports., • Audit benefits workbooks monthly to ensure balance with the General Ledger; process FSA invoices and reconciliations for timely recording into QuickBooks., • Campaign requests for travel advances and per diems; tracking campaign requests for payment reconciliation with payroll if necessary., • Vendor clean-up and maintenance to ensure 1099 processing is accurate., • Help the Finance & HR Specialist with routine check runs and vendor payment processing., • Compliance and Reporting:, • Prepare monthly audit reports as stated in primary duties; ensure compliance with internal record keeping guidelines for audit preparation, and external compliance with various entities., • Support internal and external audits as needed., • Ensure the rhythm of the business is maintained for ease of access to records, backup documentation, and workflow management., • Other Duties:, • Various projects as required for streamlining and organization sustainability; this may require collaboration with other departments., • Performs other duties as assigned, • Strong verbal and written communication skills, • Extreme attention to detail., • Ability to take initiative, prioritize and meet deadlines, • Effective problem-solving skills., • Flexible and can adapt easily to shifting priorities., • Associate’s degree in accounting; plus, two years’ direct Accounts Payable and Receivable experience; or four years’ equivalent Full Cycle Bookkeeping experience may be substituted for degree., • Proficiency with QuickBooks, specifically QuickBooks Online., • Experience with external and internal audits., • Experience working in a nonprofit or labor union environment with knowledge of related compliance and reporting standards., • Familiarity with campaign finance tracking, per diems, and travel advance accounting., • Experience with audit preparation and reporting, including responding to external audit inquiries., • May be required work outside of normal business hours to include weekends, evenings, holidays, etc., • Office-based setting, typically working at a desk or workstation with a computer., • May work in a hybrid or remote capacity, depending on organizational policies., • Regular interaction with staff, vendors, auditors, and other departments via email, phone, and in-person., • Standard business hours with occasional extended hours during audits, month-end close, or special projects., • Prolonged periods of sitting and working at a computer., • Manual dexterity required to use office equipment, including keyboard, mouse, and telephone., • Occasional lifting of files, boxes of documents, or office supplies (typically under 25 pounds)., • May involve repetitive motion tasks such as typing and data entry. This position is not included in the Bargaining Unit. Pay ranges from $83,875 – $105,773 per year.
