Job DescriptionBenefits: • 401(k), • 401(k) matching, • Competitive salary, • Dental insurance, • Health insurance The Marine Manager is responsible for the safe, complaint, and efficient oversight of marine launch operations, ensuring vessels, crews, and equipment perform to the highest operational and regulatory standards. This role requires leadership, accountability, and strategic direction to ensure vessel readiness, regulatory compliance, crew performance, and operational continuity in support of the companys long-term objectives. Key Responsibilities Crew • Monitor and ensure crews are properly trained, competent, properly licensed, and proficient on assigned vessels and equipment., • Review and coordinate crew scheduling to ensure properly licensed and qualified personnel are assigned in compliance with regulatory and company standards., • Manage launch boat personnel, providing leadership, performance oversight, accountability, and professional development., • Approve crew timecards and expense reports to ensure accuracy, policy compliance, and proper payroll processing.Vessels, • Ensure company launch vessels are fully operational, properly maintained, appropriately staffed, and ready for service., • Oversee vessel compliance with USCG regulations, company Safety Management System (SMS), and applicable federal, state, and local regulations., • Conduct routine vessel inspections and audits to verify mechanical integrity, cleanliness, safety standards, and operational readiness., • Coordinate with third-party maintenance providers to ensure preventive maintenance, corrective repairs, inspections, and regulatory items are completed in accordance with Coast Guard and company standards., • Verify completion and documentation of required vessel drills, safety procedures, and compliance records.Operations, • Identify operational risks, mechanical deficiencies, or compliance gaps and ensure timely corrective action., • Manage Customs, APHIS, and Department of Agriculture regulated garbage compliance and ensure accurate and timely reporting., • Ensure job paperwork is completed timely and accurately, preferably in real time for vessel operations, • Provide operational support to crews, dispatch, and management during issues affecting vessel capability or readiness.Utilize HELM and other company systems to track maintenance, compliance, and operational records., • Perform other marine-related duties as directed by Management.Knowledge & Skill Requirements, • Strong leadership, supervisory, and personnel management skills., • Effective written and verbal communication skills suitable for internal management and regulatory coordination., • Ability to identify operational risks, compliance gaps, and mechanical deficiencies and implement corrective action., • Strong knowledge of USCG regulations, Subchapter requirements, and maritime laws and regulations. Knowledge of crew credentialing requirements including USCG licensing, TWIC, medical certificates, and STCW (as applicable)., • Extensive knowledge of voyage planning, inland and nearshore navigation, and safe ship handling practices. Knowledge of COLREGS, navigation rules, and electronic navigation systems including GPS, AIS, radar, and marine radio communications., • Working knowledge of vessel maintenance programs, preventive maintenance systems, and drydock planning processes. Understanding of marine propulsion, electrical, hydraulic, and auxiliary vessel systems. Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, regulatory documents, charts, and vessel inspection reports.Education, • University diploma or equivalent experience required., • Valid USCG Merchant Mariner Credential with appropriate officer endorsement required. Formal maritime training, vocational marine program, or maritime academy coursework preferred., • Relevant professional maritime certifications and USCG-approved training courses required as applicable to credential level., • Ongoing professional maritime training and continuing education required to maintain credential and regulatory compliance.Physical Requirements, • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds independently., • Must be able to board and disembark vessels safely, including climbing ladders and maintaining balance on moving platforms., • Must be able to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, and work in confined or restricted spaces., • Requires prolonged periods of standing, walking, sitting, and use of hands for operating equipment and computer systems., • Must possess close visual acuity to analyze data, review reports, inspect equipment, read charts, and operate computer systems., • Must be able to work in environments with high noise levels, vibration, exposure to moving machinery, electrical systems, heights, and large bodies of water.Working Conditions, • Position is based in Channelview, Texas, and requires regular travel to vessels, docks, marine terminals, and maintenance facilities., • Work is performed both indoors and outdoors in variable environmental conditions, including exposure to heat, humidity, rain, wind, and temperature extremes., • Frequent work is performed on or near navigable waters, docks, vessels, and marine terminals., • Exposure to high noise levels (often exceeding 85 decibels), vibration, engine noise, glare, and marine-related industrial hazards., • Potential exposure to airborne dust, fumes, exhaust gases, and other environmental particulates common in marine and industrial settings., • Must be available to respond to operational or vessel-related issues outside normal business hours as necessary.
