Job Description Ardurra is looking to hire a Data Visualization Specialist to join our growing team in Houston, TX! Primary Function As a Data Visualization Specialist, you will be part of a growing family of data experts in the water and wastewater industry serving clients throughout the United States. You will be responsible for designing and building powerful, intuitive dashboards and data visualization tools that bring project data to life — empowering our clients to interpret and act on the insights. Key Responsibilities • Develop and maintain interactive data dashboards and visualizations to support civil engineering, water/wastewater, and municipal infrastructure projects and programs., • Build advanced visualizations such as Sankey diagrams, bar charts, heat maps, and simple geospatial visualizations., • Design dashboards that are clear, responsive, and tailored to both technical and nontechnical audiences (engineers, designers, project managers, planners, and executives)., • Work closely with internal stakeholders to understand and gather requirements, define KPIs, and translate complex datasets into intuitive visual designs., • Develop and automate data pipelines that ensure dashboards refresh reliably with up-to-date project data., • Optimize dashboard performance for speed, clarity, and scalability., • Collaborate with IT and data teams to ensure secure, governed, and efficient data access from multiple sources (cloud, SQL, API-based, or local)., • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, including verbal, written, and graphical communication., • Proficiency in Power BI (preferred) and/or Tableau for building interactive dashboards and reports., • Strong programming skills in Python (preferred) or R for data cleaning, transformation, and visualization., • Experience with data visualization best practices, including the use of color, layout and hierarchy to guide interpretation., • Familiarity with engineering or infrastructure project data structures is preferred (asset inventories, SCADA data, GIS data, project management metrics)., • Knowledge of cloud infrastructure and data lakes, especially in Amazon Web Services, Azure, Oracle, or Google Cloud Platform preferred., • Bachelor’s degree in Data Analytics, Computer Science, Information Systems, Statistics or related field (or equivalent work experience)., • Must have 3-5 years of related work experience, • Familiarity with Decision Support Systems and business intelligence frameworks., • Familiarity with engineering or infrastructure project data structures., • Familiarity with cloud infrastructure, and in particular data lakes from either Amazon Web Services, Azure, Oracle, or Google Cloud Platform preferred., • Experience working in the AEC (Architecture, Engineering, Construction) or municipal/public works sector., • Knowledge of geospatial visualization tools or ESRI integrations., • Familiarity with SQL and other data manipulation tools for query development., • Understanding of data governance, version control, and metadata management., • Exposure to machine learning or predictive analytics visualization is a plus.
