Job Description Marine Electrician Technician (1st, 2nd, and 3rd Class) - Immediately Hiring - San Diego, CA Job Description • This role supports a field installation services organization on board U.S. Navy ships by installing, terminating, and testing fiber optic and copper cable assemblies for critical shipboard systems, including power, communication, telephone, and alarm systems. Marine Electrician Technicians at various levels (1st, 2nd, and 3rd Class) work from customer drawings and technical documentation, perform shipboard electrical installations with minimal supervision, and ensure high-quality, reliable operation of shipboard electrical and electronic systems. Responsibilities • Install, tag, band, and secure fiber optic and copper cables on various classes of surface and submarine Naval vessels., • Perform all duties required to lay out, fabricate, and install electrical wiring, coaxial cable, waveguides, and fiber optic cable onboard Navy vessels., • Terminate and test fiber optic and copper cable assemblies that support shipboard power, communication, telephone, and alarm systems., • Troubleshoot and test fiber and copper cables and circuits to identify, isolate, and correct faults., • Read and interpret drawings, specifications, technical manuals, design notices, and other technical documentation to perform accurate installations., • Use trade tools such as multimeters, pin crimpers, soldering equipment, and other electrical tools to complete complex electrical installations., • Install and terminate military circular connectors, panel boxes, power terminations, and related electrical components., • Work from customer drawings and instructions with keen attention to detail and minimal supervision., • Communicate effectively in written and verbal form with supervisors, project leads, and team members., • Collaborate with field service operations and project leads to meet project schedules and quality requirements., • Travel as needed and work overtime, including weekends, to support shipboard projects and field assignments. Essential Skills • Minimum of 3–5 years of relevant experience as a Marine Electrician working in ship repair onboard U.S. Navy ships (technical education may substitute for a portion of the experience requirement)., • Demonstrated ability to perform shipboard or airframe electrician duties with minimal supervision or guidance., • Proficiency in installing, terminating, and testing fiber optic and copper cable assemblies for shipboard systems., • Previous experience and certification with multi-pin copper connectors., • Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, specifications, technical manuals, and design notices., • Skilled in using electrical trade tools such as multimeters, pin crimpers, and soldering equipment., • Experience with installation of military circular connectors, panel boxes, and power terminations., • Good written and verbal communication skills., • Familiarity with basic computer skills and MS Office applications, including Word and Excel. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Multi-pin connector and cableway and/or cable handling certification is highly preferred., • Experience installing and testing fiber optic systems is preferred; in-house training and certification are available., • Prior service in the U.S. Navy as an Electronics Technician (ET), Information Systems Technician (IC), Aviation Maintenance (AT), or Electrician’s Mate (EM) is ideal., • Experienced in maintaining and repairing radar, communication, navigation, and internal communication systems is beneficial., • Experience with aircraft maintenance and readiness, including electrical and electronic systems, is advantageous., • Experience with shipboard power generation and distribution systems is beneficial., • Ability and willingness to travel and work overtime, including weekends, to support field projects. The environment is primarily shipboard and industrial, involving work in confined spaces, on ladders, and in areas with active shipyard operations. Technicians use a range of electrical and electronic tools, including multimeters, pin crimpers, soldering equipment, and computer-based test and documentation systems. Standard working hours may extend into overtime, including evenings and weekends, based on project needs, and the role requires flexibility to travel and remain on assignment for extended periods. Safety procedures, personal protective equipment, and adherence to shipyard and naval facility regulations are integral parts of the daily work setting.Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of San Diego, CA.
