Job DescriptionDescription: Onsite in Anaheim, CA Our client seeks a Database Administrator to manage city database environments across Oracle and SQL Server. The role includes installation, patching, performance tuning, high availability, security, backups, and disaster recovery. The administrator will support production and non-production systems, coordinate with users and vendors, and ensure reliable 24x7 operations. This is a contract-to-hire opportunity. Applicants must be willing and able to work on a w2 basis and convert to FTE following contract duration. Rate: $55.00 to $65.00/hr. w2 Responsibilities: • Manage and maintain SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, and other databases across production and non-production., • Monitor database performance and optimize queries, indexes, and parameters., • Install, configure, upgrade, and patch database servers and related tools., • Administer security including logins, roles, encryption, and policies., • Ensure high availability and replication, including Oracle Data Guard and RAC., • Develop, update, and optimize SQL queries, triggers, and stored procedures., • Troubleshoot slow queries, server bottlenecks, outages, and database issues., • Plan database design, data modeling, normalization, and performance tuning., • Set up and manage HA/DR environments with regular backup and restore testing., • Plan and execute migrations and version upgrades., • Support development teams with schema changes and deployments., • Coordinate database-related support with city staff, vendors, and technical teams., • Strong knowledge of Oracle, SQL Server, and small-scale databases., • Proficiency with Oracle 12c, 19c and MS SQL Server 2016, 2019, 2022., • Experience installing, configuring, upgrading databases and related tools., • Advanced SQL for queries, triggers, stored procedures, and performance tuning., • Expertise with Oracle RMAN for backup and recovery., • Knowledge of Oracle Data Guard and RAC., • Familiarity with Oracle Enterprise Manager for monitoring and tuning., • Knowledge of storage structures, tablespaces, indexes, and partitions., • Experience with backup, recovery, and disaster recovery planning., • Experience with SQL Server HA/DR solutions., • Experience with SSMS and Azure Data Studio., • Understanding of database security, encryption, access control, and auditing., • Familiarity with Azure SQL, AWS RDS, and Google Cloud SQL., • Familiarity with SSIS, SSRS, and SSAS., • Knowledge of database design, normalization, and data modeling., • Experience monitoring and optimizing performance including indexes, locks, and query analysis., • Understanding of clustering and replication., • Working knowledge of tools such as SolarWinds, Data Guard, RMAN, Oracle Grid, and version control., • Hands-on scripting with PowerShell and Python., • Working knowledge of Windows Server and Linux., • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, organization, and planning skills., • Ability to collaborate with developers, architects, and business teams., • Excellent verbal communication, interpersonal, technical writing, and documentation skills., • Ability to learn quickly and adapt to multi-platform environments., • Ability to multi-task and provide off-hours support for production issues and maintenance windows., • Availability for on-call rotations or after-hours maintenance., • College degree preferably in Computer Science or Information Systems.
