Job Description Yosemite Pathology (YP) is a private independent pathologist owned and operated surgical pathology and cytology laboratory based in Modesto, CA. YP provides comprehensive state of the art, reliable, and accurate diagnostic services to its physicians and major area hospitals in the Alameda, Amador, Calaveras, Contra Costa, Kern, Mariposa, Merced, San Joaquin, Solano, Stanislaus and Tuolumne counties. YP offers a full spectrum of tissue pathology, cytology and histology services, including examination of gynecologic specimens, body fluids and fine needle aspiration specimens. We also offer an extensive array of special stains and immunohistochemistry to assist in the management of oncologic and non-oncologic diseases. The laboratory is supported by highly qualified Histotechnologist, Cytotechnologist, Technicians and office staff who offer excellent service. Summary/Objective Yosemite Pathology Medical Group (YPMG) is seeking a highly motivated EDI Developer with strong scripting and automation skills. This role sits at the intersection of healthcare data exchange, workflow optimization, and hands-on technical problem-solving. Taming HL7 files, debugging stubborn integrations, and automating anything that moves (or refuses to), will fill your day. You'll work closely with IT leadership to design, maintain, and enhance the data pipelines connecting Orchard Harvest, Xifin, hospitals, imaging systems, and internal tools. The ideal candidate blends classic EDI knowledge with modern scripting chops. Shift: Monday – Friday 8:00 am - 5:00 pm Essential Functions EDI / HL7 Data Operations • Manage, monitor, and troubleshoot inbound and outbound HL7, ADT, DFT, ORU, and custom data feeds., • Maintain and enhance interfaces between Orchard Harvest, Xifin, and hospital systems., • Validate message integrity, resolve mapping issues, and ensure accurate data flow through FTP, SFTP, REST APIs, and internal pipelines., • Investigate and resolve "unbillable" or malformed records by analyzing clinical, billing, and demographic content., • Develop and maintain automation scripts using:, • Python (primary), • PowerShell, • Batch (.bat), • JSON manipulation, • CSV/Excel data handling, • Build tooling to parse, transform, and update Xifin and Orchard data (e.g., diagnosis code injection, rendering physician updates, accession repairs)., • Develop modular components to support new interface scenarios or evolving business processes., • Work with REST APIs for Xifin, Orchard Harvest, and internal systems., • Rehydrate and submit full-schema API payloads using GET → hydrate → modify → PUT/POST patterns., • Build scalable interfaces capable of processing high-volume clinical data., • Maintain automated workflows for handling accession errors, moving files between staging and production directories, and controlling intake pipelines., • Work with Power Automate flows, cloud integrations, and AD/Entra ID workflows when needed., • Write technical documentation for scripts, integrations, and workflows., • Collaborate with internal teams to gather requirements and translate them into automated processes., • Provide clear summaries of issues, resolutions, and system behavior. (Bonus points if you can do this without making anyone cry.) Job Requirements and Skills • Experience with HL7, X12, or similar healthcare EDI standards, • Preferred experience building or supporting healthcare interfaces (Mirth, Rhapsody, Cloverleaf, etc.), • Strong Python skills with experience in file parsing, REST API interaction, and automation with preferred knowledge of AD/Entra workflows and identity automation, • Proficiency in PowerShell and Windows automation, • Ability to troubleshoot complex data flows across multiple systems, • Comfort reading and modifying structured data (JSON, XML, CSV), • Preferred experience with batch ETL processes, logging frameworks, or diagnostics and ability to work with FTP/FTPS/SFTP environments safely and reliable, • Familiarity with medical billing workflows or LIS/RIS platforms (e.g., Orchard Harvest, Xifin), • Strong analytical mindset and attention to detail, • Loves solving puzzles - especially healthcare-data-shaped puzzles, • Enjoys a mix of detective work, scripting, and occasional spelunking through legacy directory structures, • Doesn't panic when seeing an HL7 file with 57 Z-segments, • Collaborates well, communicates clearly, and shares knowledge with the team, • The compensation is $73,400 – 96,000 annually (exempt) paid semi-monthly on an eight (8) hour per day, forty (40) hour per week.
