Job Summary The Receiving Lead is responsible for leading and managing the Receiving Department, ensuring accountability, productivity, and continuous improvement across all inbound operations. This role oversees container unloading schedules, labor delegation, returns and RMA processing, quality control inspections, and compliance with established SOPs and KPIs. The Receiving Lead provides a strong leadership presence, driving team performance through coaching, accountability, and cross-functional collaboration. By leveraging WMS technology and proactive planning, this position ensures all inbound activities are executed efficiently, accurately, and on schedule. The role requires extensive experience managing staff and departmental operations, with the ability to anticipate challenges, implement effective solutions, and drive operational excellence. Key Responsibilities • Enforce and maintain SOPs, KPIs, and best practices to ensure accurate, safe, and efficient inbound processing, • Monitor inbound container schedules, including verifying and signing PODs, tracking container status, ensuring timely unloading within established service windows, and coordinating with drayage providers for prompt empty container pickup, • Plan and oversee inbound workflows by anticipating bottlenecks such as delays, space constraints, or staffing gaps, and implementing proactive solutions to minimize disruptions, • Partner with Operations teams to coordinate unloading, reporting, and resolution of container, purchase order, or quality discrepancies to maintain product integrity, • Execute labor plans established by management, ensuring effective task delegation, balanced workloads, and timely completion of assignments, • Oversee inbound returns and RMA processing by verifying receipts, tracking RMAs by receipt date, ensuring proper product classification, and troubleshooting return issues in collaboration with Operations and Customer Experience teams, • Manage quality control inspections and ensure compliance with company standards and specifications, • Lead daily stand-ups or team check-ins to align priorities, address challenges, and reinforce accountability, • Utilize WMS technology (Deposco or similar systems) to assign, track, and complete inbound tasks; generate and analyze reports using WMS and Excel to monitor accuracy, inspections, and container progress, • Serve as the primary receiving point of contact for Customer Experience, Inventory, Shipping, and Operations by providing timely updates on inbound schedules, delays, and quality issues, • Maintain an organized, safe, and compliant receiving area that supports 5S, Lean practices, and operational efficiency, • Support and drive continuous improvement initiatives to streamline inbound processes and increase departmental efficiency, • Perform other inbound-related duties as assigned, • Previous experience with operating Forklift Equipment (Company will OSHA certify internally) Required Qualifications Experience • Minimum of 3 plus years of Warehouse Receiving Lead experience, • High School Diploma or equivalent Skills and Competencies • Strong leadership, delegation, and accountability enforcement, • Proven experience managing staff and overseeing department-level operations, • Comprehensive shipping and receiving knowledge, • Advanced WMS proficiency (Deposco or similar systems), • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and handheld devices, • Excellent communication and cross-departmental collaboration skills, • Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities, • Ability to lift, push, pull, or carry boxes exceeding 35 pounds, • Ability to walk, stand, or sit for extended periods, • Required to obtain and maintain certification for operating warehouse MHE, • Frequent use of hand tools, including a safety cutting tool Working Conditions The Receiving Lead is responsible for ensuring inbound operations are executed with accuracy, efficiency, and full compliance with safety and performance standards. Success in this role is demonstrated through timely container unloading, accurate inventory processing in the WMS, and proactive identification and resolution of operational issues before escalation. The role requires strong multitasking capabilities to effectively manage container flow, returns processing, labor allocation, and quality control simultaneously.
