Our challenge We are seeking a detail-oriented Sr. Data Steward to support the organization’s data governance, data quality, and information management initiatives. The Data Steward will be responsible for maintaining data accuracy, consistency, security, and usability across business systems. The ideal candidate will work closely with business users, data owners, data engineers, IT teams, compliance teams, and other stakeholders to define data standards, resolve data quality issues, maintain metadata, and promote responsible data management practices. Additional Information* The base salary for this position will vary based on geography and other factors. In accordance with law, the base salary for this role if filled within Las Vegas, NV is $100K - $120K & benefits (see below). The Role Responsibilities: • Act as a subject-matter representative for assigned data domains and business processes., • Define, document, and maintain data definitions, business glossaries, data standards, and data classification rules., • Monitor and improve data quality across systems, databases, reports, and business applications., • Identify, investigate, and resolve data quality issues, including incomplete, inaccurate, inconsistent, duplicate, or outdated data., • Establish data quality rules, validation checks, thresholds, and monitoring processes., • Support data profiling, data cleansing, data mapping, and data reconciliation activities., • Maintain data dictionaries, metadata repositories, data catalogs, and lineage documentation., • Collaborate with Data Owners and Data Custodians to establish data ownership, accountability, and usage standards., • Support the implementation and enforcement of data governance policies, procedures, and controls., • Ensure that data is handled in accordance with organizational policies, privacy requirements, and regulatory obligations., • Assist with data access reviews, authorization processes, retention requirements, and data classification activities., • Support audits and compliance initiatives by preparing data governance documentation and evidence., • Review data requirements for new projects, applications, reports, and integrations., • Help define critical data elements, key performance indicators, and data quality metrics., • Track data issues and remediation activities using tools such as ServiceNow, Jira, or other governance platforms., • Prepare data quality reports, dashboards, and status updates for stakeholders., • Promote data literacy and educate business teams on data governance standards and best practices., • Participate in data governance committees, working groups, and process improvement initiatives. Requirements: • Bachelor’s degree in Information Management, Computer Science, Business Administration, Data Management, or a related field., • 7+ years of experience in data governance, data quality, data management, business analysis, or a related role., • Understanding of data governance principles, frameworks, and operating models., • Experience with data quality management, data profiling, data cleansing, and issue resolution., • Knowledge of metadata management, data dictionaries, business glossaries, and data lineage., • Familiarity with data privacy, security, retention, classification, and access control concepts., • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills., • Experience working with structured and unstructured data., • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and data analysis tools., • Working knowledge of SQL for data validation, reconciliation, and investigation., • Strong documentation and communication skills., • Ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders., • Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy. Preferred skills: Experience with data governance and data catalog tools such as: • Collibra, • Alation, • Informatica, • Microsoft Purview, • IBM Knowledge Catalog, • Atlan Familiarity with data quality tools and platforms. Experience with cloud data platforms such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud. Knowledge of data modeling, relational databases, data warehouses, and data lakes.
