Job Description Step into a day on our plant floor You arrive on shift and scan the production dashboard. A conveyor sensor is flagging intermittent faults. You pull the latest schematics, isolate the circuit, and trace the issue to a misaligned proximity switch. A quick adjustment, a verification on the HMI, and production is humming again. Next up: scheduled preventive maintenance on a high-voltage distribution panel and a collaborative walk-through with production to identify opportunities for continuous improvement. What you will own • Apply and champion OSHA and GM safety procedures in every task., • Install, maintain, and repair industrial electrical equipment, controls, and circuits., • Rapidly diagnose and resolve equipment and component malfunctions to minimize downtime., • Execute preventive and corrective maintenance across all plant systems., • Interpret electrical drawings and wiring schematics with precision., • Participate in cross-functional problem solving and continuous improvement., • Model strong analytical and troubleshooting skills on control systems. Qualifications to thrive, • Six (6)+ years relevant electrician experience or a U.S. Department of Labor Certificate of Completion in the Electrical trade., • At least 18 years old., • Willing to work flexibly across day, afternoon, or night shifts; able to support overtime on short notice including weekends and holidays., • Strong collaboration mindset and readiness to partner with multiple departments., • Comfort reading complex schematics and working with industrial control systems., • Current GM employees under a collective bargaining agreement: please connect with your local HR/LR for placement options., • This position may be filled as Journeyperson in Training (JIT) or Journeyperson. JIT compensation range: $36.68–$42.80; Journeyperson rate: $43.67. Status and pay are determined by credentials/credentials review and interview performance. Physical expectations, • Respond quickly to safety directions, alarms, and signals., • Stand for extended periods and navigate busy production areas., • Wear assigned PPE comfortably and consistently., • Bend, twist, kneel, crouch, and reach as tasks require; lift/carry up to 50 lbs. depending on department., • Operate mobile equipment when needed; some tasks may involve periods of sitting. Work setting, pay, and mobility This role is categorized as onsite. This means the selected candidate is expected to report to a specific location on a full-time basis. General Motors UAW hourly employment offers a very competitive compensation and benefit package. An annual incentive payout is also available, as qualified. Relocation and travel expenses will be the responsibility of the applicant. This job may be eligible for relocation benefits.
