Job DescriptionLicensed Mental Health Professional (LMHP) Job Title: Licensed Mental Health Professional (LMHP) Department: Clinical Services Department Reports To: Manager of Clinical Services FLSA Status: Exempt Employment Type: Full-Time Work Schedule: Monday-Friday with flexibility to meet organizational and client needs Work Environment: In-Person Salary Range: $70,000 . $85,000 annually, dependent upon licensure, experience, and clinical specialization Position Summary The Licensed Mental Health Professional (LMHP) contributes to the mission of PTSD Foundation of America by providing trauma-informed behavioral health services to veterans, family members, and eligible clients experiencing the effects of trauma, post-traumatic stress, substance use disorders, co-occurring disorders, anxiety, depression, grief, and other behavioral health conditions. The Clinical Services Department operates as an independent clinical department within PTSD Foundation of America and maintains separate clinical oversight, documentation practices, professional standards, ethical obligations, and service delivery structures independent from Camp Hope housing and peer-support operations. Clinical services are directed and supervised by the Manager of Clinical Services and operate in accordance with applicable federal and Texas behavioral health standards, BHEC requirements, professional licensing obligations, ethical standards, and organizational policies. This position provides clinical assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, counseling, crisis intervention, care coordination, clinical documentation, and therapeutic support services within a multidisciplinary behavioral health environment serving veterans and their families. Services may be delivered in person, within outpatient settings. The LMHP is expected to maintain compliance with the Texas Behavioral Health Executive Council (BHEC), applicable licensing board standards, HIPAA privacy requirements, trauma-informed care principles, organizational compliance expectations, and evidence-based behavioral health practices. This position supports the organization’s mission while maintaining professional clinical independence, ethical judgment, and client-centered care standards. Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesClinical Assessment and Behavioral Health Services • Conduct biopsychosocial assessments, mental health evaluations, behavioral health screenings, and risk assessments., • Develop individualized treatment plans based on clinical findings, diagnostic criteria, and client needs., • Provide individual, family, and group counseling services utilizing evidence-based and trauma-informed approaches., • Assess suicide risk, homicidal ideation, self-harm concerns, relapse potential, and crisis stabilization needs., • Provide therapeutic interventions for veterans and individuals experiencing PTSD, trauma-related disorders, depression, anxiety, grief, substance use disorders, and co-occurring conditions., • Coordinate referrals for psychiatric services, higher levels of care, medical treatment, community resources, or specialized behavioral health services when clinically appropriate., • Participate in continuity of care planning and discharge coordination activities.Clinical Documentation and Regulatory Compliance, • Complete clinical documentation accurately, timely, and in accordance with organizational policy, payer requirements, and legal documentation standards., • Maintain treatment records, progress notes, assessments, treatment plans, safety plans, and discharge documentation within the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system., • Ensure clinical records comply with HIPAA, Texas confidentiality laws, professional ethical standards, and applicable record retention requirements., • Maintain compliance with documentation standards established by BHEC and applicable Texas licensing boards., • Protect confidentiality of protected health information and sensitive organizational information., • Participate in chart reviews, utilization review activities, clinical audits, and quality improvement initiatives. Crisis Intervention and Clinical Support Services, • Respond to urgent behavioral health concerns, crisis situations, and client de-escalation needs within the clinical environment., • Conduct crisis assessments and collaborate with internal and external providers regarding appropriate interventions., • Assist with stabilization planning and coordination of emergency behavioral health services when necessary., • Collaborate with peer support staff, case management personnel, medical providers, and community resources to support client care., • Provide consultation and support to interdisciplinary teams regarding behavioral health concerns and trauma-informed approaches. Interdisciplinary Collaboration and Organizational Support, • Participate in clinical staffing meetings, case consultations, supervision activities, and interdisciplinary treatment discussions., • Maintain professional communication with referral sources, providers, community agencies, and organizational leadership., • Support organizational initiatives associated with behavioral health programming, veteran wellness, and recovery services., • Assist with policy compliance, accreditation readiness activities, and operational improvement efforts. Professional Development and Ethical Practice, • Maintain active professional licensure in good standing., • Complete continuing education requirements established by BHEC and applicable licensing boards., • Practice within professional scope of practice and ethical standards., • Maintain professional boundaries, ethical conduct, and sound clinical judgment., • Participate in required organizational training including HIPAA, compliance, trauma-informed care, cultural competency, workplace safety, and ethics training. Qualifications and RequirementsEducation Master’s degree or higher in one of the following fields from an accredited institution: • Counseling, • Social Work, • Marriage and Family Therapy, • Psychology, • Behavioral Health, • or related mental health field Licensure Requirements Must maintain active Texas licensure in good standing through the applicable Texas licensing board governed by the Texas Behavioral Health Executive Council including one of the following: • Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), • Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), • Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), • Licensed Psychologist, • Other independently licensed mental health professional approved by PTSD FOA Clinical Leadership Preferred: • EMDR training, • Trauma certification, • Military cultural competency training, • Substance use or co-occurring disorder experience, • Veteran behavioral health experience Experience Requirements, • Minimum of three years of clinical experience within behavioral health, trauma treatment, substance use treatment, crisis intervention, or related mental health settings preferred., • Experience working with veterans, military families, trauma survivors, or co-occurring populations preferred., • Experience utilizing Electronic Health Record systems preferred., • Knowledge of military culture, combat-related trauma, transition-related stressors, and veteran-specific behavioral health challenges strongly preferred. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities, • Knowledge of trauma-informed care principles and behavioral health interventions., • Understanding of DSM-5 diagnostic criteria and behavioral health treatment planning., • Knowledge of crisis intervention techniques and suicide prevention strategies., • Ability to maintain clinical boundaries and ethical decision-making., • Strong written documentation and clinical communication skills., • Ability to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary treatment environments., • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional discretion., • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Electronic Health Record systems., • Understanding of HIPAA privacy and security requirements., • Knowledge of professional ethical standards established by BHEC and applicable licensing boards., • Understanding of military culture, combat operational stress, moral injury, reintegration challenges, and veteran behavioral health needs., • Ability to effectively engage and build rapport with combat veterans and military-affiliated populations., • Knowledge of veteran-specific community resources, VA systems, and recovery support services preferred.Physical Requirements, • Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, and communicate for extended periods., • Ability to respond appropriately during behavioral health crisis situations., • Ability to lift up to 10 pounds occasionally., • Ability to utilize computer systems and electronic documentation systems. Work Environment The Clinical Services Department functions independently as the licensed behavioral health and clinical services component of PTSD Foundation of America. While collaboration with peer-support and veteran-service programs may occur, clinical decision-making, treatment planning, documentation, confidentiality protections, and behavioral health service delivery remain under the authority and oversight of licensed clinical leadership. Clinical staff are expected to maintain professional behavioral health standards consistent with ethical, legal, and regulatory obligations governing licensed mental health professionals in Texas.
