Job DescriptionJOB SUMMARY The Housekeeper / Room Attendant is responsible for ensuring that guest rooms, bathrooms, and assigned areas of the hotel are clean, comfortable, safe, and welcoming for every guest. The Housekeeper is expected to consistently meet hotel cleanliness standards while providing courteous and professional service to guests. This position requires attention to detail, organization, efficiency, teamwork, and the ability to work independently while completing assigned rooms within established time standards. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESGuest Room Cleaning • Clean and service assigned guest rooms according to hotel standards and established procedures., • Make beds, change linens, and replace towels and other room amenities as needed., • Thoroughly clean and disinfect bathrooms, including toilets, sinks, tubs, showers, mirrors, floors, and fixtures., • Dust, vacuum, sweep, and mop floors and other assigned areas., • Clean furniture, appliances, windows, doors, and other surfaces as required., • Empty trash and replace trash liners., • Restock guest room supplies and amenities, including toiletries, towels, tissues, coffee supplies, and other approved items., • Check rooms for cleanliness, damage, missing items, and maintenance concerns before completing the room., • Ensure rooms are properly arranged and presented according to hotel standards., • Report any room requiring additional cleaning or attention to the Executive Housekeeper or Supervisor.Guest Service, • Provide friendly, courteous, and professional service to all guests., • Respond appropriately to guest requests for items such as towels, toiletries, pillows, blankets, or other approved amenities., • Assist guests with basic questions and directions when appropriate, or refer them to the Front Desk when necessary., • Respect guest privacy and belongings at all times., • Immediately report any unusual circumstances, guest concerns, or safety issues to a supervisor.Maintenance & Room Condition, • Report maintenance problems, damaged furniture, broken fixtures, plumbing issues, electrical concerns, or other deficiencies to the appropriate supervisor., • Identify rooms requiring maintenance attention and ensure issues are properly communicated., • Report damaged or missing hotel property immediately., • Notify the supervisor of rooms that require special cleaning, pest control, carpet cleaning, or other specialized services.Lost & Found, • Follow all hotel procedures regarding lost and found property., • Immediately report and properly document any guest property found in a guest room or public area., • Never remove, use, or retain guest property., • Handle all lost and found items with honesty, care, and professionalism.Supplies & Organization, • Monitor housekeeping supplies, linens, towels, amenities, and cleaning products., • Maintain an organized and clean housekeeping cart, supply closet, and assigned work areas., • Replenish supplies as needed and notify the supervisor when inventory is running low., • Use cleaning products and supplies appropriately and minimize unnecessary waste., • Follow proper procedures for handling, storing, and disposing of cleaning chemicals.Safety & Sanitation, • Follow all hotel safety, sanitation, and housekeeping procedures., • Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when required., • Properly use cleaning chemicals and equipment according to instructions., • Report unsafe conditions, accidents, injuries, spills, or hazards immediately., • Follow procedures for handling bodily fluids, hazardous materials, and other potentially unsafe conditions., • Maintain a safe work environment for guests, employees, and other hotel personnel.Teamwork & Communication, • Communicate effectively with the Executive Housekeeper, Housekeeping Supervisor, Front Desk, Maintenance, and other hotel departments., • Keep supervisors informed of room-cleaning progress throughout the shift., • Communicate room status accurately and promptly., • Work cooperatively with other housekeeping staff to ensure all assigned rooms and duties are completed., • Assist coworkers when necessary to meet hotel operational and guest service needs., • Participate in deep-cleaning projects and special housekeeping assignments as directed.Additional Duties, • May assist with deep-cleaning projects, including carpets, upholstery, walls, baseboards, vents, windows, and other areas., • May be assigned turndown service duties when applicable., • May assist with cleaning and maintaining public areas as needed., • May assist with laundry or other housekeeping-related duties as assigned., • May assist other departments when operationally necessary., • Perform other related duties as assigned by management.PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS Housekeepers are expected to: • Maintain consistent, high-quality cleanliness standards in every assigned room., • Complete assigned rooms efficiently while maintaining quality and attention to detail., • Follow established hotel housekeeping procedures and time standards., • Maintain a professional and courteous attitude toward guests and coworkers., • Report maintenance issues, damage, safety concerns, and other problems promptly., • Protect guest privacy and property., • Maintain confidentiality regarding guests and hotel operations., • Demonstrate reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic., • Maintain a clean, neat, and professional appearance while on duty.JOB QUALIFICATIONS, • Previous housekeeping or hotel experience preferred but not required., • Previous customer service experience preferred., • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions., • Ability to work independently and as part of a team., • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment., • Strong attention to detail., • Reliable and dependable Lifting and carrying linens, supplies, and cleaning equipment., • Repeatedly making beds and cleaning bathrooms., • Ability to safely perform the physical requirements associated with cleaning guest rooms.WORK ENVIRONMENT The Housekeeper / Room Attendant works primarily in guest rooms, bathrooms, housekeeping areas, and other areas of the hotel. The position may involve exposure to cleaning chemicals, dust, odors, bodily fluids, and other conditions normally associated with hotel housekeeping operations. Proper safety procedures and protective equipment must be used at all times when required.
