Job DescriptionJob Title: Environmental Laborer Job Description This position supports an EPA Superfund remediation project with a primary focus on the excavation and removal of contaminated soils. You will perform physically demanding outdoor work and contribute directly to safe and effective site remediation efforts. Responsibilities • Load and unload trucks, materials, and equipment in a safe and efficient manner., • Excavate and backfill trenches and ditches as directed by site supervision., • Move tools, supplies, and materials using wheelbarrows, hand trucks, and other manual methods., • Assist with contaminated soil removal and site remediation activities in accordance with safety procedures and regulatory requirements., • Stack, organize, and secure materials for storage to maintain an orderly work area., • Collect and properly dispose of debris, refuse, and salvageable materials from the worksite., • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment by following housekeeping and safety guidelines., • Follow instructions from supervisors and work collaboratively with the site team to complete daily tasks. Essential Skills • 40-hour HAZWOPER certification., • Ability to perform strenuous physical labor in outdoor conditions for extended periods., • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull heavy materials throughout the workday., • Experience with soil remediation, excavation, or related labor-intensive tasks., • Strong awareness of safety practices in construction or environmental remediation settings., • Reliability and willingness to work a consistent schedule in varying weather conditions. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Previous experience in construction, environmental remediation, excavation, demolition, or general labor is preferred., • Familiarity with handling contaminated soils or hazardous materials is an advantage., • Ability to use basic tools, wheelbarrows, hand trucks, and other manual material-handling equipment., • Capability to follow written and verbal instructions and work effectively as part of a team. Work Environment This is a fully outdoor position supporting an EPA Superfund remediation site. You will work Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with work performed in a variety of weather conditions. The role involves frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling of heavy materials, as well as regular use of wheelbarrows, hand trucks, and other manual equipment. You will work around excavation areas, contaminated soils, and active remediation activities, following strict safety and regulatory protocols and wearing appropriate protective equipment as required. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Wichita, KS. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.05/hr.
