Job DescriptionJob Title: Civil Engineer Job Description This Civil Engineer role focuses on supporting land development, residential, and site civil design projects from initial concept through final construction. You will prepare comprehensive civil design plans, perform stormwater management analysis, and ensure all work complies with New York State and New York City regulations and permitting requirements. The position offers the opportunity to work on a diverse portfolio of complex projects in a fast-paced, growth-oriented engineering environment. Responsibilities • Lead and support land development, residential, and site civil design projects from concept through construction., • Prepare detailed design plans including site layout, grading, drainage, utilities, stormwater systems, and erosion and sediment control., • Perform stormwater management analysis and design, including hydrologic and hydraulic modeling in compliance with NYSDEC and NYCDEP standards., • Develop erosion and sedimentation control plans and prepare complete permit application packages., • Coordinate with regulatory agencies to obtain necessary approvals and ensure compliance with all applicable regulations, codes, and permitting processes for New York State and New York City projects., • Produce detailed engineering drawings and construction documents using AutoCAD and Civil 3D., • Conduct site visits and field assessments to gather data, verify existing conditions, and support design and construction activities., • Collaborate closely with contractors, architects, and other project stakeholders to resolve technical issues and support successful project delivery., • Assist in preparing engineering reports, technical analyses, specifications, and cost estimates for land development and site civil projects., • Ensure all designs meet quality standards and adhere to relevant civil engineering best practices, including grading, drainage design, stormwater management, and erosion control.Essential Skills, • At least 2 years of experience working on land development and site civil design projects., • Hands-on experience with land development design, including grading, stormwater management, and drainage design., • Experience in erosion and sedimentation control design and permitting., • Proficiency in AutoCAD for civil engineering design and drafting., • Proficiency in Civil 3D for site civil and land development design., • Knowledge of stormwater management principles and practices, including hydrologic and hydraulic analysis., • Experience working on New York State and New York City civil engineering projects., • Ability to ensure design compliance with New York State and New York City regulations, codes, and permitting requirements., • Strong civil engineering fundamentals in site civil design, land development, grading, drainage, and erosion control., • Ability to prepare engineering reports, technical analyses, specifications, and cost estimates with attention to detail.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or progress toward EIT is beneficial., • Experience coordinating with regulatory agencies for permits and approvals., • Familiarity with NYSDEC and NYCDEP standards for stormwater management., • Experience working in both New York State and New York City project environments., • Strong collaboration skills to work effectively with contractors, architects, and multidisciplinary project teams., • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects and deadlines., • Interest in professional growth within a multi-disciplinary civil engineering design and consulting firm., • Strong written and verbal communication skills for preparing reports and coordinating with stakeholders.Work Environment The role is based in an office environment with standard hours of 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM, including a one-hour lunch break. You will work in a fast-paced, lean organization that takes on complex land development and civil engineering projects. The team consists of approximately 30 professionals, primarily engineers, fostering a technical, collaborative atmosphere. The firm operates as a multi-disciplinary civil engineering design and consulting practice with over 45 years of combined experience in engineering, land development, and regulatory approvals. The culture emphasizes high professional standards, quality project delivery, and strong client service, supported by modern civil design tools such as AutoCAD and Civil 3D. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Holtsville, NY. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $53.00 - $68.00/hr.
