Company Overview • Our client is a large, well established U.S. refining and energy supply organization with multiple refineries, terminals, pipelines, and related infrastructure assets across the United States, • Headquartered in Houston, TX, the company operates a significant crude refining footprint and employs several thousand professionals across refining, supply and trading, commercial, and corporate functions, • The organization is known for its strong operational discipline, long term stability, and commitment to values such as safety, integrity, accountability, and collaboration, • The company continues to invest in modern technology platforms, including enterprise ETRM systems, to enhance data driven decision making, risk management, and financial analytics across the business Role Summary • Title: Accounting Supervisor – Industrial Products & Petrochemicals, • Department: Controller’s Organization – Refining Accounting, • Team Scope: Lead and mentor accounting analysts supporting industrial products and petrochemical transactions across multiple refinery locations and Supply & Trading, • Primary Focus: Oversee accounting, financial reporting, inventory analysis, and process improvement for industrial products and petrochemical activity across refining operations Key Responsibilities • Supervise day-to-day accounting activities related to industrial products and petrochemical purchases, sales, exchanges, and processing agreements, • Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting of all transactions across Lake Charles, Corpus Christi, and Lemont refineries, as well as Supply & Trading operations, • Oversee inventory accounting and reconciliation processes, including in-transit inventory, third-party storage, and refinery-level balances, • Analyze general ledger accounts, accruals, purchase and sales activity, inventory balances, freight, and intercompany transactions to ensure completeness and accuracy, • Lead monthly close activities, including journal entries in SAP and volumetric postings in RightAngle, • Supervise and review key accounting processes such as LIFO costing (petcoke, butane), accruals, profit center allocations, and reconciliations, • Provide financial analysis and insights to support Industrial Products Supply and Petrochemicals business units, • Support cash forecasting activities, including daily billing and payment projections with a rolling 60-day outlook, • Establish, maintain, and enforce internal controls and accounting guidelines to ensure compliance and accuracy, • Identify gaps in current accounting practices and recommend improvements to ensure alignment with GAAP, • Interpret accounting guidance and assess the impact of transactions on financial statements, cash flow, and debt covenants, • Partner cross-functionally with operations, supply and trading, and finance teams to support business performance and reporting needs, • Mentor and develop accounting staff, reviewing work and providing guidance on complex accounting and reporting issues Ideal Candidate Profile • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required, • 8+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience, preferably within refining, oil & gas, or petrochemical environments, • Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting requirements, • Experience supervising or mentoring accounting staff, • Proven ability to perform detailed financial analysis and interpret operational results, • Experience with SAP required;
