ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Complete a comprehensive bio-psychosocial assessment with each family to understand strengths and service needs., • Monitor, lead and coordinate social service and counseling support including appropriate and timely interventions., • Ensure focus on effective social services delivery to clients, including integration of models and best practices (such as trauma informed and family centered care)., • Monitor and document client progress toward service plan goals., • Ensure that families are receiving full support in shelter and, when necessary, refer families for counseling or other services., • Supports the Family Services department by working alongside the Case Manager and supporting staff when dealing with challenging clients., • Improve linkages to mental health, education, and community-based services., • Strengthen the overall permanency outcomes for families with children in shelter., • Manage record keeping, data collection, and evaluation on the effectiveness of services for families., • Assists with unit inspections when needed., • Support the Family Services department by conducting trainings., • Promote and model best practices for Family Services staff., • Complete 2010E applications for Supportive Housing as needed., • Conduct workshops for the residents and Staff QUALIFICATIONS: • Must have a master’s degree in social work or Mental Health Counseling., • Applicants must hold an LMSW (Licensed Master Social Worker) or LMHC (Licensed Master Health Counselor) in the state of New York., • Familiarity with substance use disorders and addiction treatment services, domestic violence, child abuse and maltreatment, trauma, and mental health conditions., • Sensitivity and awareness of working with homeless and vulnerable populations is a plus., • Bilingual is a plus. You will ensure participants receive services that are strengths-based, gender-specific, and culturally sensitive while adhering to the core principles of risk, need and responsivity to reduce recidivism, increase engagement in community treatment services and support participants to achieve their self-identified goals for treatment, recovery, rehabilitation, and crime-free community integration. CASES’ Supervised Release Program (SRP) annually diverts 5,500 people otherwise facing pretrial detention at Rikers Island to community-based supervision and support services. Program participants include youth and young adults, people with substance use disorders and mental illnesses, and individuals who are homeless. SRP participants have not been found guilty of a crime and are not mandated to engage in treatment or other services. This requires staff to tactfully deliver approaches to help participants tap into their intrinsic motivation to leverage their strengths and skills for meaningful life improvements while fulfilling all court requirements. Homes for the Homeless (HFH) is searching for an experienced Family Programs Coordinator for our Families w/ Children facility in Staten Island, NY. As the Family Programs Coordinator, you will play a pivotal role in our organization, overseeing the performance of our dedicated Family Engagement Specialist and ensuring a nurturing and enriching environment for the families at our facility. ABOUT HOMES FOR THE HOMELESS: Homes for the Homeless operates shelters for families experiencing homelessness in NYC. Our family residences are more than just a place to sleep. Families can make the most of their stay through accessing an array of onsite programs. Many of these programs are also available to people living in the local community. Our goal is to have a positive impact so families can thrive long after they leave our shelters. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Develop and implement a diverse range of recreational programs for children and families, including sports, arts and crafts, outdoor activities, and educational offerings., • Collaborate with internal departments and community partners to plan, organize, and promote special events and workshops., • Create, manage, and maintain a comprehensive event schedule that offers age-appropriate and inclusive options for participants with varied interests and abilities., • Oversee staff scheduling and prepare agendas for staff meetings to support effective communication and operations., • Maintain accurate attendance records, conduct program evaluations, and prepare regular reports for management review., • Recruit, hire, train, and support staff to ensure high-quality program delivery., • Manage a K–12 recreation program with a strong focus on youth development and participant engagement., • Actively participate in required training sessions, staff meetings, and organizational events., • Partner with the HR team to ensure all personnel files are complete, accurate, and up to date., • Ensure compliance with all OCFS and DOH regulations, standards, and guidelines. QUALIFICATIONS: • Associates or bachelor’s degree., • At least one year of supervisory experience., • Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English., • Excellent organizational and planning skills., • This position requires flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, to accommodate program schedule and special events., • Experience leading activities with children, teens, and adults.
