Job Description Characteristics of Work This position is responsible for transporting program participants from rural areas of Hinds County to various destinations within Hinds County in accordance with applicable guidelines and regulations of the Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT). The work also involves transporting meals to the elderly and disabled once a week. Essential Functions These essential functions include, but are not limited to the following. Additional essential functions may be identified and included by the Agency. ransports program participants to social services agencies, shopping, medical appointments, recreational activities, and other personal destinations. Delivers meals to program participants in their home once a week. Completes passenger trip logs specifying the number of passengers, type and number of trips taken and trip purposes. Performs routine preventative maintenance and daily maintenance checks on assigned vehicle. Informs supervisor of any vehicle maintenance and repair needs in a timely manner. Takes vehicles to the shop for maintenance, repairs and required state inspections. Reports any traffic violations and/or accidents to supervisor and other proper authorities. Prepares all necessary reports and records as required by the Agency and funding sources. Attends all annual training in accordance with the Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT) mandatory training requirements. Additional Responsibilities Attends all required staff meetings. Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor. Qualifications High school diploma or GED. Ability to communicate effectively. Must possess a valid Mississippi Commercial Driver’s License with “P” Endorsement. AND Applicant must submit to and pass drug screening tests as outlined by Hinds County Human Resource Agency’s Personnel Policies and Procedures.
