Job DescriptionAttorney - Civil Defense, Corporate, Transactional Established (100+ Years) Premier Full-Service Firm Seeking Civil Defense Litigation and Corporate/Transaction Attorney in Jackson, MS An established Mississippi full-service law firm with over 100 years in practice is seeking a Civil Defense Litigation and Corporate/Transaction Attorney with 6-10+ years of experience and portable business to join its Jackson office. This opportunity is ideal for an experienced attorney seeking long-term growth, meaningful autonomy, and a clear pathway toward shareholder status within a respected firm known for deep local roots, strong institutional clients, and a collaborative, low-ego culture. The firm is positioned for strategic succession planning. Many long-tenured senior attorneys have longstanding client relationships without clear successors, creating a rare opening for a lateral attorney to inherit and expand established work. This role combines the stability of institutional clients with the flexibility to grow a practice on a full-service platform supported by experienced attorneys, administrative resources, and cross-practice collaboration. Offer: Compensation range: $160,000-$225,000+ depending on experience and size of portable business Comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision, and life insurance 401(k) with employer matching Hybrid schedule with approximately 3 days onsite Administrative, paralegal, and marketing support Strong internal referral streams and cross-practice collaboration Clear path to shareholder for attorneys with consistent performance and client development Qualifications: 6-8+ years of civil defense litigation and/or corporate/transactional experience Portable business or the ability to bring existing client relationships Experience handling pleadings, discovery, motion practice, negotiations, and complex drafting Experience advising business clients on contracts, corporate compliance, governance, and transactions Mississippi Bar membership in good standing Strong writing, communication, client management, and business development skills Desire to build a long-term practice within a full-service firm structure Responsibilities: Manage and grow a caseload of civil defense litigation matters and corporate/transactional work Draft pleadings, motions, contracts, corporate agreements, and business documents Advise clients on risk management, commercial matters, contracts, and transactions Represent clients in depositions, hearings, mediations, and settlement negotiations Collaborate with partners and practice groups to support institutional clients and transition work Build and expand client relationships with an eye toward shareholder status and succession opportunities • For this position, you must be currently authorized to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship for a non-immigrant visa.
