Full Job Description Mercy Drive, Inc. is looking for a Day Habilitation Driver/ Direct Support professional (Bilingual Spanish) Must have at least a high school diploma or GED. Must be able to drive a 12-15 Passenger Van. 30 Hours a week. Monday-Friday 7am-3pm (3 days a week) Duties include the following: (other duties may be assigned) 1. TO ENSURE SAFETY OF ASSIGNED PARTICIPANTS DURING THE PROGRAM HOURS AND PARTICIPANT IS NOT SEPARATED FROM A GROUP AT ANY TIME; EACH PARTICIPANT IS ACCOUNTED FOR WHEN THEY ARE OUT IN THE COMMUNITY OR USING ANY PUBLIC FACILITIES. TRANSPORT INDIVIDUALS. 2. To assist participants in attaining skills according to their abilities and behavioral needs identified in Group Day Habilitation Plan such as adaptive skills, socialization and communication skills, money management and travel training skills and additional individualized skills to be discussed with the Program Supervisor, participant, and circle of support. 3. To inform the Program Supervisor immediately about suspected incidents of any types of abuse, exploration, and neglect to the Individual during the service time, to document it in writing, and to report within 12-24 hours of incident discovery. 4. To always take into consideration that extra patience and understanding is imperative and essential when interacting with people who have special needs with physical and/or mental limitations. To be emotionally and physically capable of caring for members of this population. 5. To provide professional direct assistance and adequate supervision to participants during the service time and before ending the service, to remain always calm. To present as a positive role model for the individual. 6. Staff must perform a headcount of every participant before leaving and upon arrival at any location or destination including getting on and off vehicles, elevators or other mold of transportation. 7. To follow community safety agreement and professional boundaries policy at all times. 8. To complete and submit monthly summary notes and individual summary to Program Supervisor by the 5th of the month documenting continuous progress reviews according to OPWDD and the agency standards. 9. To ensure proper personal hygiene; to assist the participants with self-care, toileting, showering, tooth brushing, grooming, dressing and others as needed. To ensure the participant’s diaper is always clean. To check the diaper once again before dropping off the participant. 10. To assist in developing, coordinating and implementing curriculums and goals related activities by following the program’s schedule for each Individual and accompany participants safely to community resources (stores, places of worship, Library, Park, Museum, Grocery store, recreation and health facilities etc.) in order to promote the usage of available ordinary community resources. 11. To maintain daily documentation, to clock in/out daily, and to complete other Day Habilitation Documentation as required by the Program and the Supervisor. 12. To meet the deadlines assigned by the Program Supervisor, to ensure the documentation completed properly and submitted on time. 13. To maintain in the program a healthy and positive environment, including but not limited to safety, program/vehicle cleanliness, and maintenance of program supplies. Assist the driver in maintaining a safely operated bus (making sure Participants are properly seated and buckled up during transit) 14. Monitor riders’ behavior during trips and report any sign or symptoms of illness or adverse medication reaction to the site supervisor in order to implement an appropriate plan of action. 15. To perform monthly fire drills with participants at the program. 16. To report “in” and “out” of the Participant’s home or at the Community by contacting Program Supervisor. 17. To inform the Program Supervisor immediately about any issues/problems by using the Agency Cell Phone. 18. To use communication skills in order to participate effectively as a team member. 19. To use equipment and supplies efficiently and inform the Program Supervisor of shortages/needs. To maintain agency cell phone, E-Z pass and other agency property accurately. 20. To keep Program’s Supervisor informed immediately of any changes in participant’s or work schedule. To report the program’s supervisor one day prior in case of calling for sick day off. 21. To participate in scheduled group supervision and/or biweekly meetings, to attend in-office or OPWDD provided trainings when appropriate and relevant to job duties in order to increase knowledge of services and share professional support. To attend Initial/Annual/Semi-Annual Day Habilitation Plan reviews and other meetings if required. 22. Perform other/additional duties as assigned by Executive Director, Program Manager and Program Supervisor. 23. Transport Individuals in 12 Passenger Vans. Job Announcement MENA Program Director The International Legal Foundation (ILF) is hiring a program director to help advance the development of the ILF’s public defender programs in Tunisia and the West Bank. The ILF program director for the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) will lead the ILF’s long-term efforts in the region to build a culture of defense through practical skill-building and case-based mentoring, as well as project implementation aimed at strengthening the quality and effectiveness of defense services. This is a great opportunity for an experienced criminal defense lawyer to join a global team of experts who are fighting injustice and discrimination while transforming legal systems around the world. Driven by the belief that every person accused of a crime deserves to be represented by a well-trained lawyer, the ILF has established pioneering public defender programs in Afghanistan, Myanmar, Nepal, Tunisia and the West Bank of Palestine, and is providing technical assistance to legal aid providers in the Republic of Georgia and Indonesia, who are leading the fight for equal access to justice for poor and vulnerable accused. The ILF’s uniquely practical and effective approach focuses on incrementally developing the knowledge and skills of local lawyers through mentoring—not simply dropping in and providing one off trainings—empowering them to provide high-quality, client-centered, rights-based legal aid and challenge injustice. In addition to its ground-up work establishing effective public defender systems, the ILF also engages in high-level global advocacy, pushing countries, international institutions, and donors to prioritize legal aid as a fundamental human right. The ideal candidate will be a passionate, committed advocate with experience training and mentoring lawyers on how to use the law to increase access to justice and respect for the rule of law. They will also have familiarity with performance standards and guidelines for quality defense representation, with successful experience working in an international or inter-cultural setting. This position is intended to be based out of the ILF’s New York office in Midtown Manhattan, but both hybrid and completely remote opportunities are available. The salary range for this position is $75,000 to $90,000. The ILF considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. Responsibilities: - Direct mentoring, both in person and remotely, of Tunisian and Palestinian legal aid lawyers on actual casework and training, as necessary, to improve litigation, trial and advocacy skills; - Develop understanding of local law and practice in countries where the ILF works and develop effective litigation strategies to advance the rights of the criminally accused by addressing entrenched rights violations and gaps between the law and actual practice; - Oversee the development and updating of the ILF’s practice manuals, training guides and sample motions in existing country programs and/or in new countries that will assist in the mentoring of local staff and identify key issues to be litigated under the specific laws of the country; - Work with ILF country office senior management on upholding quality legal aid performance standards, and assist in developing and overseeing the ILF’s monitoring and evaluation systems, including the case management systems used by the ILF’s country offices in an effort to ensure accountability and to track continuous improvement and impact; - Draft ILF Case Notes summarizing cases that cover legal issues being addressed in ILF’s program offices, and work with the ILF’s communications team on dissemination; - Manage the ILF’s International Fellows Program, which places volunteer lawyers from around the world in our country offices to provide intensive mentoring to local lawyers, including preparation of the Fellows and oversight on progress and challenges; - Work with the New York and country program teams on the introduction and implementation of projects, grants and activities that advance early access to counsel and high-quality, client-centered, rights-based and holistic legal aid services; - Communicate with donors and stakeholders and help guide growth, expansion and sustainability of the ILF’s public defender programs; - Manage the report writing and the development of publications that cover the program and further the ILF’s advocacy; - Bring innovation and creativity to interventions and initiatives that aim to build justice sector understanding of the right to counsel and their role in ensuring access to justice; - Work effectively with the ILF’s Executive Director and Senior Program Director, and program and communications staff as necessary and appropriate, in supporting the ILF’s mission; - Represent the ILF globally, including at conferences and other advocacy forums. Position Summary: Drives and maintains a vehicle used to deliver meals to homebound elders. Transports a team of delivers to complete all meal deliveries for their assigned routes within an established time frame. The Meals on Wheels driver is also responsible for an individual meal delivery route. Schedule: Between Monday through Friday 20-29 hours per week Hourly Rate: $20.00 Picks-up and delivers meals to homebound seniors. Picks-up and drops-off Delivery staff on the designated route. Observe client and their surrounding area; report concerns as needed. Keeps vehicles clean and in good operating condition, assist with the oversight of maintenance of vehicle.
