Pawsability Dog Club is searching for an experienced Groomer for our mission-driven dog daycare! We are a brand-new facility with a beautiful, spacious grooming space. We are looking for a groomer to take appointments Monday through Friday from 9am to 2pm but the schedule will be discussed with the selected candidate! What makes Pawsability Dog Club unique? Our mission is providing outstanding dog care in our stunning, newly-built Bushwick facility. Part two of our mission is creating a comprehensive internship program for neurodivergent persons (specifically ASD). This program will allow participants to learn, gain experience and meaningful employment in the dog care industry. In short, we offer exceptional dog care for our canine community while creating important educational and employment opportunities for our human community. Our Grooming position is an independent contractor role. As such, you would let us know your preferred schedule, provide your own shears and tools, and maintain relationships with your client following. It is expected that the Groomer will provide top-quality care for clients from the initial dog intake, throughout their groom, to client pick-up and client-outreach to encourage recurring groom schedule. The groomer will have full use of the grooming space when on-site and will be expected to maintain that space in an organized, sanitary manner. Requirements & Qualifications 1. High school graduate or GED, also, must have grooming certificate. 2. Good oral & written communication skills 3. Minimum of 2-3 years professional grooming experience with history of satisfied, repeat clients. Please be prepared to show a portfolio of your work and provide references. 4. Demonstrated ability to adhere to appointment schedule, interact favorably with clients, complete administrative notes/tasks to maintain satisfied client base. Reliability in both timelines and fulfilling commitments is key! **We will request final groomer candidates demonstrate grooming ability on a "test" dog prior to committing to work together. 5. Ability to teach others and perform as a mentor/role-model. A genuine interest in working with neurodivergent individuals and/or experience working with the ASD population is highly desirable. 6. Kennel Attendant Wanted Purpose We are searching for an attentive and devoted kennel attendant to oversee the cleanliness and well-being of our dogs. NO EXPERIENCED NEEDED. We will teach you everything you need to know. This position will be part-time. Responsibilities We have a climate controlled indoor dog kennel, which is approximately 800 square feet, and an outdoor kennel roughly 1,750 square feet (dog run). The kennel attendant's responsibilities will be to clean the dog run and the individual kennel areas. We will also require the attendant to provide food and water to the dogs. To ensure success as a kennel attendant, you should be able to anticipate and tend to the needs of animals. Ultimately, a top-notch kennel attendant will be able to tailor their care according to animals' physical, emotional, and behavioral difficulties. [OUR DOGS ARE NOT AGGRESSIVE] Kennel Attendant Responsibilities: • Transporting dogs to and from their kennel. • Ensuring that the dogs always have fresh food and water. • Cleaning animal waste, spilled food, hair, and other debris from the kennels. • The daily disposal of trash. • Accompanying dogs on walks. • Calming dogs who are in distress. • Adjusting the air temperature to ensure that the dogs remain comfortable. • Reporting significant changes of kennel operations to the Kennel Master. • Ensure that each of our dogs are treated with respect and dignity. • Ensure that all dogs are receiving appropriate amounts of food and water, clean and sanitize food/water bowls daily. • Clean up dog poop, urination, and any vomit during each shift. • Walk dogs on leash to and from outside areas. • Engage in play activities with pets including fetch, exercise walks, chase, agility, follow the leader, recall and basic obedience games, etc. • Supervise activities of multiple dogs throughout the day • Monitor closely for any potential conflicts or escalations and redirect or remove one or more dogs from the situation as needed. • Maintain a sanitary and healthy environment by following our standards of cleaning and disinfecting rooms. • Dispose of and clean up any stool and urine. • Ensure the facility meets or exceeds our expectations with regards to cleanliness and safety • Clean and sanitize all pet enclosures, exercise yards, and common areas. • Mix and use disinfectants and other chemicals safely as instructed by the Kennel Master. • Ensure that the property is maintained (lawn care, snow removal, tree maintenance) • Alert manager when levels of inventory are low in the following areas: Pet Food, Cleaning Supplies. • Help maintain the cleanliness of the property by picking up and disposing of trash or debris. • Keep aisles, drains, carts, shelves, sinks, floors, furniture, counters and glass clean, sanitary and free of clutter/debris. • Empty and sanitize trash cans and receptacles. • Forceful, aversive, aggressive handling, vocalizing or treatment will not be tolerated.
