Job DescriptionJob Title: Electrical Foreman Job Description This role oversees electrical installations on commercial projects, with a strong focus on conduit systems, wiring, lighting controls, and adherence to NEC codes. The foreman leads a field crew, lays out work, coordinates daily tasks, and ensures high-quality, code-compliant installations of exposed conduit, branch circuits, distribution systems, and lighting control systems across multiple locations. Responsibilities • Bend EMT and conduit using hand benders, table benders, and other appropriate tools for 1/2 to 3/4 inch conduit, including 90-degree bends, offsets, and saddles., • Build conduit rack systems and install exposed conduit and racking systems in a neat, organized, and code-compliant manner., • Pull wire through conduit systems and ensure proper labeling, routing, and termination of conductors., • Install, wire, and finish branch circuits and distribution systems for 120-480 volt electrical work., • Perform wiring for lighting systems, including rough-in of MC and BX cable and installation of lighting control systems., • Install and wire lighting control systems, including Lutron systems, and integrate them with lighting zones and panels., • Install and wire fire alarm systems, including devices, circuits, and terminations, in accordance with applicable codes., • Perform zone work for lighting systems, including panel wiring and landing wires into main electrical panels., • Read and interpret blueprints and electrical drawings to lay out work accurately and efficiently., • Create detailed material lists and ensure that crews have the necessary materials and tools for daily tasks., • Lay out work areas, plan tasks, and organize workflow for an entire floor or assigned project area., • Lead and manage a full crew of approximately 10–12 electricians, assigning tasks and monitoring progress., • Communicate with general foremen and project leadership to coordinate daily tasks, schedules, and priorities., • Apply full knowledge of NEC code requirements to ensure all installations are safe, compliant, and high quality., • Troubleshoot electrical systems, identify issues, and correct work as needed to maintain performance and safety., • Use electrical testers, laser levels, and other tools to verify proper installation, alignment, and operation of systems., • Maintain a safe and professional job site, following all safety protocols and promoting safe work practices among the crew.Essential Skills, • At least 8 years of experience as a full mechanic-level electrician with the ability to read and interpret blueprints independently., • Strong proficiency in bending EMT and conduit using hand benders and table benders for 1/2 to 3/4 inch conduit., • Hands-on experience building conduit rack systems and installing exposed conduit and racking systems., • Demonstrated ability to pull wire through conduit systems and complete clean, organized terminations., • Proficiency in wiring lighting systems, including rough-in of MC and BX cable., • Experience installing and commissioning lighting control systems, including Lutron systems., • Knowledge and experience with fire alarm system wiring and device installation., • Ability to perform 120-480 volt electrical work safely and accurately., • Strong understanding and full working knowledge of NEC code requirements., • Experience reading blueprints and performing electrical layout work for floors and project areas., • Proven ability to lead and manage a crew of 10–12 electricians in the field., • Experience creating material lists and planning daily work activities., • Ability to troubleshoot electrical systems and correct deficiencies independently., • Possession of a valid and active SST 10-hour card., • Ability to travel to and work across all five boroughs using public transportation as needed.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • Experience with exposed conduit installation in commercial or industrial environments., • Familiarity with rigid and galvanized pipe installations., • Hands-on experience with lighting zone work, panel wiring, and landing wire into main electrical panels., • Comfort working with a range of electrical systems from 120 to 480 volts., • Strong communication skills for coordinating with general foremen and project teams., • Ability to maintain detailed and accurate documentation of work performed., • Ownership of personal PPE and hand tools, including hand tools, cordless drill, measuring tools, electrical testers, and laser level., • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in layout, installation, and finishing work.Why Work Here? Work Environment Work takes place across all five boroughs, and you must be able to commute to various job sites using public transportation. Start times typically range between 6:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m., with an eight-hour workday that includes a half-hour unpaid lunch and a 15-minute coffee break. The environment is extremely safe and professional, with strict adherence to safety standards and protocols. You will work with EMT, rigid and galvanized conduit, lighting control systems, Lutron systems, fire alarm systems, and electrical panels ranging from 120 to 480 volts. You are expected to bring and use your own PPE and hand tools, including a cordless drill, measuring tools, electrical testers, and a laser level, while following all site-specific safety and conduct requirements.
