We are currently seeking a dedicated and motivated Assistant Child Care Director to join our team. The Assistant Director of Early Childhood Learning Center (ECLC), is responsible for supporting the Director of Early Childhood Learning in the successful development, growth and management of the ECLC program, exercising judgement, help and support including budget development, policies, procedures and staff supervision. Assist with recruitment, training and support of assigned staff. Serves as liaison to committee(s) as needed. The Assistant Director is prepared and able to fulfill needs as required in the absence of the Director. Requirements: Essential Functions: • Assist with the oversight, development, supervision of the daily operations of the Early Childhood Learning program and is the second point of contact with families in the program in the absence of the Director., • Support implementation and management of day-to-day operations, including program promotion, growth and direct service delivery., • Assist with program development and implementation. Compile program statistics and monitor the effectiveness of and participation in programs, ensuring that program standards are met and safety procedures are followed. Maintain accurate and complete records of all program participants., • Assist with communication with parents on a daily basis through emails, memos, and parent boards regarding calendar and curriculum updates as well as any events or issues., • Assist in the development and management of all budgetary items related to the childcare center operations., • Recruit, hire, train, and assist in schedule development and direction of assigned staff and volunteers for the program. Review and evaluate performance regularly with a focus on developing and enhancing staff skill set., • Under the direction of the Director, support strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals, model professionalism and relationship-building skills in all interactions., • Assist with maintaining all licensing records for the Child Care Center to meet State and Local licensing requirements and accreditations as deemed appropriate., • Assist with the monitoring of organization, appearance and appropriateness of center décor, (i.e., Bulletin Boards, Classroom Displays, learning materials, storage areas, etc.), • Maintain adequate classroom supplies by monitoring materials and inform the Director when orders are necessary., • Review and monitor curriculum implementation. Mentor Teachers and Teacher Assistants to enhance professional growth., • Coordinate and work with all other YMCA programs to ensure consistency and communication among all families., • Assist the Director, along with the Association Child Care Registrar, to ensure that registrations and related information is accurate, on file and updated., • Participate in required Branch and Association-wide activities and events., • Participate in workshops, trainings and seminars that will enhance professional growth, including involvement with quality teams as required., • Maintains appropriate appearance, courteous demeanor, and positive professionalism when dealing with children, staff and parents., • Demonstrate and model the YMCA’s four core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility., • Perform other job-related duties as requested and necessary. Requirements/Qualifications: • Bachelor degree in Early Childhood Education, or related field and/or equivalent experience., • Knowledge of infant through kindergarten development and curriculum, modern theories in early year’s education and understanding of Early Childhood Education development principles., • Demonstrated success in Child Care and day camp practices and quality program development., • Experience with assisting in curriculum implementation, classroom management and effective parental communication., • Knowledge of state licensing accreditation requirements., • Knowledge of financial and budget management concepts., • Minimum of three years practical teaching experience working in Child Care, preferably Early Learning., • Minimum of one-year supervision experience., • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with all levels including staff, parents and children. Outstanding communications skills, both written and verbal., • Ability to problem solve and take initiative that adhere to the purpose, mission and goals of the YMCA., • Strong time management and organizational skills., • Strong computer skills, software proficiency with Microsoft applications., • CPR, First Aid and AED certifications may be required., • Must complete CARI Background Check, CHRI/Fingerprinting and provide proof of a Mantoux test within two weeks of hire., • Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle for transportation.
