QUALIFICATIONS: • At least a 60-credit Professional Diploma or equivalent earned in an approved School Psychologist program., • New Jersey State certificate as a School Psychologist.REPORTS TO: SUPERVISOR OF STUDENT PERSONNEL SERVICESJOB GOAL:, • To enable students to derive the fullest possible educational experience from school by promoting their positive sense of self and others., • To identify all exceptional students and to enhance their educational experience through recommending appropriate services and providing supportive counseling., • To promote a school-wide atmosphere of cooperation and mutual help.PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Assess the difficulties of referred students through appropriate testing, interviews, and other diagnostic practices., 2. Participates in or acts as chairperson for Child Study Team meetings on referred children., 3. Determines, in cooperation with other Child Study Team members, faculty, and parents appropriate educational placement, program, and supportive services for all classified students., 4. Maintains psychological case records on all referred students., 5. Consults with parents and faculty regarding therapeutic environment to meet the emotional needs of children in school and at home., 6. Attends professional and interagency meetings and workshops., 7. Conducts appropriate research and development in techniques and practices of mental health., 8. Consults with professional personnel of community health agencies and with private practitioners involved with students., 9. Responds to individual student crisis situations to conduct threat assessment and analysis.
