This Role Cristo Rey Orlando High School is seeking a mission-driven Athletic Director who will provide administrative direction and oversight for all Cristo Rey Orlando High School interscholastic athletics staff, programs, facilities, and activities. The Athletic Director is responsible for ensuring compliance with all governing athletic association rules and regulations (such as FHSAA or applicable leagues) and sustaining a culture of safety, professionalism, and respectful sportsmanship at all levels consistent with the Cristo Rey mission. The Athletic Director collaborates closely with the principal, assistant principal, administration, and faculty to ensure that students participating in athletics maintain academic eligibility and meet all Corporate Work Study Program (CWSP) requirements. Occasional evening and weekend work is required, especially during competitive seasons. As a founding member of the Cristo Rey Orlando community, the Athletic Director will have the unique opportunity to build an athletics program from the ground up, establishing systems, traditions, and a mission-driven culture that reflects the values and vision of the school. Responsibilities include: General Program Leadership • Communicate information regarding CRO athletics, activities, and events to the school community including tryout dates, registration deadlines, required physicals, and participation requirements., • Establish and oversee systems for the registration and compliance of all sports teams and student-athletes with relevant athletic associations or leagues., • Ensure the integrity, confidentiality, and accuracy of all student-athlete records, including physical examinations and emergency contact information., • Lead quarterly meetings of the CRO Athletic Advisory Committee., • Recruit, train, supervise, and coordinate compensation for athletics support staff such as event managers, scorekeepers, and gate attendants., • Collaborate with school administration and Campus Ministry to develop mission-driven service opportunities connected to athletics, such as concessions or event management., • Develop and coordinate student-athlete recognition programs that celebrate commitment, sportsmanship, teamwork, perseverance, and character development aligned with school values., • Ensure compliance with all student-athlete policies including eligibility standards, Safe Environment requirements, concussion training, and heat safety training., • Lead and support the development of all coaches, ensuring professionalism, integrity, and strong mentorship of student-athletes. Inventory and Equipment Management • Maintain a current inventory of all athletic uniforms and equipment., • Determine equipment and uniform needs based on program growth and replacement cycles., • Develop and maintain purchasing schedules in coordination with the Business Office., • Distribute, track, and collect uniforms each season and coordinate replacement or reimbursement when necessary., • Maintain adequate supplies of first aid kits, athletic training supplies, and ice packs., • Maintain concession inventory for home athletic events., • Ensure equipment storage facilities remain clean, organized, and secure., • Conduct routine safety inspections of athletic equipment and playing surfaces., • Oversee updating championship banners and displays recognizing athletic accomplishments. Practice and Game Day Operations • Develop and maintain athletic facility schedules for practices, games, and external facility usage., • Coordinate volunteers and support staff for home athletic events including ticket collection, concessions, and scoreboard operations., • Ensure that all necessary resources such as nets, scoreboards, seating, and safety equipment are available for games and events., • Ensure all practices and games adhere to safety protocols and guidelines including weather-related decisions and emergency procedures. Budget and Program Development • Manage the athletics budget, including forecasting, expense tracking, and responsible stewardship of resources., • Seek and manage external funding opportunities, sponsorships, and partnerships to support athletics programming. Community Engagement • Serve as the primary representative of the athletics program at league meetings, school events, and community engagements., • Build relationships with parents, alumni, and community organizations to strengthen support for athletics. Risk Management and Compliance • Develop and enforce policies related to athlete safety including injury prevention, concussion protocols, and emergency procedures., • Ensure compliance with all legal, regulatory, and ethical standards related to school athletics. This position may also support the academic structure and contribute to other areas of school life as needed, in alignment with the schools mission and evolving needs. Performs other duties and special projects as assigned by the Assistant Principal. The requirements below represent knowledge, skills, and/or ability: • Bachelors degree from an accredited institution., • Certification or eligibility for certification by the Florida Department of Education to teach in the State of Florida., • Experience in athletic administration, coaching, or athletics program leadership., • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills., • Knowledge of athletic program management, student eligibility requirements, and governing athletic association rules., • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced school environment., • Ability and willingness to work evenings and weekends during athletic seasons., • Physical demands include being required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, and climb stairs. Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment. Occasionally required to lift and/or move athletic equipment. Preferred Experience and Skills • Experience launching or building an athletics program., • Experience working in a Catholic or faith-based educational environment., • Experience managing athletic budgets and equipment inventories., • Ability to mentor and develop coaches and student-athletes., • Strong community engagement and relationship-building skills., • Commitment to supporting the mission and values of Cristo Rey Orlando High School.
