The Technician I is responsible for the installation, preventative maintenance, servicing, and cleaning of our ice machines. This role is critical in ensuring the optimal functionality and cleanliness of our equipment to meet our customers’ service requirements while operating with proficiency. The technician will assist in troubleshooting issues, conduct routine inspections, and execute scheduled maintenance tasks under the supervision of senior technicians. The ideal candidate will possess a keen attention to detail, a commitment to maintaining equipment in good working order, and a willingness to learn and grow within the field of ice machine repair and maintenance. The Technician I is dedicated to driving service success that not only enhances customer satisfaction but also maximizes customer retention through reliable and responsive service. A successful Technician I will drive the following outcomes: • Increase the effectiveness and efficiency of the customer service experience by cleaning, installing and or repairing machines properly the first time, every time, • Increase the effectiveness and efficiency of the customer service experience by maintaining the proper truck stock and vehicle cleanliness and organization standards, • Leave every machine serviced in a condition that makes it easier for other Technicians to follow, • The Technician I performs duties as assigned including the installation of equipment, bagging/delivery of ice, cleaning, repairing, and maintaining ice machines. All levels of Technician - I, II, and III, are responsible for the installation, cleaning, and preventative maintenance of ice machine equipment as required, • Perform comprehensive servicing, installation, and thorough cleaning of ice machines per Easy Ice standard operating procedures to ensure optimal performance and cleanliness, • Communicate effectively with coworkers and customers to ensure all work orders and assignments are completed on time and per Easy Ice standard operating procedures, • Accurately document all actions performed during service visits by taking required photos, completing forms, reports, logs, and maintaining clear records of maintenance activities, • Ensure proper truck stock at all times, avoiding unnecessary return trips and delays in customer service, • Manage the pickup and delivery of ice as needed for service calls, ensuring timely and efficient service for customers, • Identify and report any additional actions required to enhance customer satisfaction, including recommendations for parts replacement, cleaning, or equipment repairs, • Facilitate the processing of accurate payments from customers and assist in the proper shutdown or removal of equipment when necessary, • Assist in maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work environment in the shop when applicable by adhering to all safety protocols and cleanliness standards Education: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) Vocational/Technical Training preferred Experience: • 1-2 years of experience in a customer service-oriented technical role or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred, • Previous experience with ice machines or HVAC maintenance or similar equipment is a plus, • Basic understanding of mechanical systems and electrical components related to ice machines or similar equipment, • Familiarity with troubleshooting techniques and standard repair practices, • Strong communication skills to effectively interact with customers and team members, • Problem solving abilities and a proactive approach to addressing issues, • Ability to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks to ensure service calls are completed in a timely manner, • Skills in maintaining organized records and documentation of service activities, • Demonstrated track record of delivering highest level of customer satisfaction Additional Required Attributes: • High-energy individual with a positive attitude and strong commitment to customer satisfaction, • Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and service protocols in the field of ice machine repair and maintenance, • The employee is often required to stand; walk; sit; use ladders; use hands to manipulate, handle, or feel surfaces, parts and tools; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds, • Stands for extended periods of time (6+ hours per day), • While the noise level in the work environment is usually somewhat quiet, the worker may be subject to elevated noise levels, • Drive a vehicle for up to 60 percent of the hours worked, • Ability to work flexible shifts and adapt to changing work schedules The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work performed by people assigned to this classification. Job Description Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor or other Manager, the HVAC Mechanic “A” will lead the daily operation of the HVAC/R shop at the College. This position will be responsible for the ongoing temperature control and comfort of the heating and cooling systems at the College to support academic, lab, administrative, and specialized HVAC/R systems. POSITION SUMMARY Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: • Installs, operates, maintains, and repairs complex HVAC/R systems including water and oil pumps, water analysis and chemical treatment systems, air compressors, pneumatic, electrical and mechanical controls, refrigeration, heating, cooling and ventilating equipment, filters, condensers, cooling towers, evaporators, and heat exchangers., • Responds to HVAC system complaints, performs troubleshooting of systems and provides feedback to Supervisors and Managers on progress., • Plans and performs preventative maintenance tasks for College HVAC/R systems to optimize system performance and energy efficiency., • Installs electric power, piping, controls and duct work to replace, maintain or to install new equipment., • Maintains logs, checklists, and prepares written reports to Supervisor, as appropriate., • Enters information into the College’s Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to document all work, parts used, system conditions, hours worked, and leverages system data., • Ensures compliance with all safety standards, buildings codes, and environmental regulations., • Leverages Building Automation and Building Management Systems (BAS/BMS) to prioritize, document, and improve system performance and facility comfort., • Monitor and oversee College and contractor staff, as needed., • Attends training sessions and meetings to stay current on all trade, College, and regulatory requirements, • Maintains the cleanliness and orderliness of department spaces., • Prepares list of materials required to maintain inventory and complete projects., • Must respond to emergencies and maintenance tasks, as required, which may include working off-hours or holidays., • Reports to the College during closures and assists with snow and ice clearing operations, as needed., • Performs any other duties or task as may be assigned. THE ROLE The Floor Manager is the operational backbone of the store. This is not an administrative role. What owning the floor actually means It means you walk in and the staff calibrates. For New York City based employees, the base salary range anticipated for this position is $153,583 to $177,833, plus an opportunity for an annual company bonus based upon a percentage of eligible pay.
