Job Description Our Company InVivo Biosystems is a growing biotechnology company that enables scientists and researchers around the world to better understand human health by offering a more affordable and accessible platform. We develop solutions for the genetic modification of C. elegans and Zebrafish to act as human proxies for disease research and drug discovery and help our customers reveal new insights into the true nature of genetic mutations. Overview: This is a collaborative, team-based role with the responsibility to support transgenic and phenotyping client and grant-funded projects. On any given day you may perform zebrafish husbandry, general laboratory upkeep for zebrafish and C. elegans research, and fluorescent screening of C. elegans. As you will be joining a growing biotech company, a passion for science, a positive outlook, and an ability to work in a dynamic environment are a must. What You'll Be Doing • Zebrafish handling, husbandry, and imaging, • Worm passaging (transferring nematodes between petri dishes with a pick), • Zebrafish embryo care and maintenance using a microscope and pipette, • Fluorescent screening of post-injection C. elegans and zebrafish embryos, • Conducting phenotypic screening including behavioral, physiological, and molecular methods, • Assist Scientists with PCR prep, embryo collection, and lysis as needed, • Solution and media preparation using sterile technique, • Waste management support as needed, • Possible occasional transportation of live organisms and lab samples, • Documenting laboratory progress, • Data analysis and presentation What You Bring to the Table InVivo Biosystems is looking for individuals that possess a can-do attitude, are motivated by doing a job well, are adaptable and flexible, have a continuous improvement mindset, and will thrive in a collaborative and diverse environment. In addition, successful candidates will have the following qualifications: • Associates' or Bachelor degree in Biology or related field preferred, • Minimum one year of relevant laboratory experience such as behavioral phenotyping, fluorescence microscopy, or animal husbandry. Experience with laboratory aquatic species preferred., • Level of role is determined by a combination of education in the biological sciences and relevant zebrafish or other aquatic husbandry experience., • Valid Driver's License and vehicle in working condition, • Comfortable working with live aquatic animals and following established animal care protocols., • Solid mathematic and calculation skills, • Working knowledge of standard laboratory equipment and protocols, • Ability to apply the scientific method and similar logical skills to problem-solving, • Ability to work proficiently and efficiently on time-sensitive issues, • Well-organized and detail-oriented, • Strong work ethic and commitment to completing assigned tasks, • Ability to stand for extended periods while working at a lab bench and traverse a 15,000 sq. ft lab/office space Inclusion, it's in our DNA.
