GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: CAD is currently seeking a collaborative and operational Vice President, Finance at our Fairfield, NJ location. The VP Finance will report to and work closely with the President and senior leadership team to drive business growth, operational efficiency, and financial performance while ensuring regulatory compliance and optimal capital allocation. The VP, Finance will be responsible for the management of financial processes, systems, and controls; reporting results on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis; meeting regulatory deadlines; safeguarding Company assets; directing and administering budgets and operating plans; designing and measuring key performance indicators; and providing accurate and timely financial information that assists in operational decision-making, resource allocation, and investment decisions. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Vice President, Finance must be able to perform each essential duty at a high level. Requirements listed below are representative of some, but not all, of the knowledge, skill, and ability needed: • Extensive GAAP financial reporting, including month-end, quarter-end and year-end demands, and working with external auditors., • Extensive cost accounting knowledge, especially with standard cost methods in complex, multi-site manufacturing environments., • Extensive systems background, including database and accounting computer application systems to supply the most accurate financial information., • Excellent verbal and written communication skills., • Excellent leadership skills and management skills., • Based full-time in Fairfield, NJ., • Travel as required. REPORTING & GAAP COMPLIANCE: • Oversee and participate in the monthly close process with a focus on integrity of results, timeliness, developing good and effective close processes, documentation requirements, journal entry review, and timely overview of the reconciliation of major accounts., • Develop relationships with key functional personnel to ensure a timely and consistent dialogue of activity and that all significant business issues are raised in a timely fashion and analyzed and recorded correctly in accordance with GAAP., • Oversee the development and change process within the financial management process and provide leadership and direction when necessary., • Lead internal activities associated with year-end financial audits., • Coordinate with IT on implementation and maintenance of accounting and internal control systems. COST ACCOUNTING & CONTRACT ACCOUNTING: • Review monthly cost variances with cost accounting team and operations management., • Review monthly revenue recognition calculations related to % of completion contracts., • Oversee semi-annual inventory standard cost roll and updated overhead rates., • Monitor monthly cycle count results and coverage per policy., • Develop monthly product profitability and publish segment reporting. FORECASTING AND REPORTING: • Manage the annual operating plan and budgets, target setting, and business planning processes., • Manage the timely development and publication of accurate internal financial statements through analyzing and interpreting financial and operating data for management., • Assist with the preparation of monthly president's letters and quarterly board presentations., • Analyze operational issues impacting functional groups and determine their financial impact., • Monitors progress of business objectives throughout the year. TREASURY & TAX SUPPORT: • Manage company cash flow through weekly cash forecasts and report on the cash position and related issues to the parent company., • Manage tax accounting activities, programs, and compliance in cooperation with the parent company's accountants. MANAGERIAL: • Manage staff and staff development., • Mentor and inspire performance., • Make employment and compensation decisions related to staff., • Advise management on applicable industry trends and legislation., • Read, analyze, and interpret professional technical procedures, government regulations, financial reports, and legal documents., • Respond to common inquiries from customers and regulatory agencies., • Other activities as assigned. DIRECT REPORTS: • General/Cost Accountant, • Accounts Payable Analyst PHYSICAL DEMANDS: • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards., • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards., • Must be able to talk, listen and speak clearly on telephone with customers and co-workers. Employment with Cartridge Actuated Devices is contingent upon the successful completion of a background investigation, including any required Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) screening, and drug screening, as permitted by applicable law.
