Job Description Volunteer Coordinator – Fund Development Supervisor: Development Manager Location: Philadelphia, PA (Hybrid) Hours: 20–40 hours per week 1. Organization Overview: • Kensington Community Corporation for Individual Dignity (KenCCID) is a nonprofit organization committed to supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). Through person-centered services, community partnerships, outreach initiatives, and advocacy, KENCCID promotes dignity, independence, and inclusion for the individuals we serve. This internship supports KENCCID’s mission by strengthening community relationships and enhancing our volunteer engagement efforts. 2. Position Summary: • The Volunteer Coordinator Intern will assist the Fund Development Department in expanding and managing KenCCID’s volunteer program. This role includes hands-on involvement in volunteer recruitment, engagement, administrative support, and community outreach. The intern will gain practical experience in nonprofit operations, event planning, relationship building, and communication strategies. This role is ideal for candidates pursuing education or careers in nonprofit management, fundraising, human services, or community engagement. 3. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: • Volunteer Recruitment & Engagement • Assist in sourcing, recruiting, and screening potential volunteers for organizational programs and events. • Support all onboarding processes, including orientation, follow-up communication, and maintaining up-to-date volunteer records. • Help maintain relationships with existing volunteers through check-ins, updates, and appreciation initiatives., • Event & Program Support • Assist in planning, preparing, and executing volunteer activities, appreciation events, and community engagement initiatives. • Collaborate with program managers and staff to determine volunteer needs and ensure alignment with program goals. • Attend volunteer events as needed to support coordination and logistics., • Outreach & External Engagement • Conduct outreaching including phone calls, emails, and community follow-ups—to attract new volunteers, partners, schools, and organizations. • Represent KenCCID in community settings as needed to promote volunteer opportunities and build relationships., • Administrative & Reporting Responsibilities • Track volunteer participation, hours, assignments, and event documentation. • Prepare summaries, activity reports, and updates for the Development Manager. • Assist with maintaining accurate volunteer files and supporting compliance with internal standards., • Marketing & Communications Support • Contribute to volunteer-related communications, including drafting newsletter content, social media posts, and volunteer spotlights. • Assist in creating basic graphics or promotional materials (training will be provided). • Support promotion of internal and external events. 4. Qualifications and Competencies Education & Experience: • Enrolled in or recently graduated from a program in Nonprofit Management, Human Services, Social Work, Education, Communications, Public Relations, Business Administration, or a related field. • Prior volunteer experience is helpful but not required. Skills & Competencies • Strong written and verbal communication skills. • Professionalism, reliability, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. • Strong organizational and time-management skills; able to balance multiple tasks. • Familiarity with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, Canva, and social media; willingness to learn on the job. • Comfort with outreach tasks, including cold-calling and community engagement. • Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and advocacy for individuals with disabilities. 5. Structure and Support: • Will receive regular supervision and mentorship from the Development Manager. • Training will be provided for systems, tools, volunteer procedures, and communication platforms. • The internship offers exposure to nonprofit administration, fund development processes, and community engagement strategies. • Flexible scheduling available (hybrid structure with in-person requirements for certain events or meetings). 6.
